Trails Invitational 2018

The Trails Swim Team hosted its annual Invitational swim meet at Lions Armstrong Memorial Pool in Algonquin on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Trails finished the event with 499 points, finishing second to the Geneva River Rats (571), followed by Cary Barracudas (315), Dundee Dolphins (222), McHenry Marlins (219), Elgin Y Pelicans (181), Health Bridge Huntley HammerHeads (114), Health Bridge Crystal Lake HammerHeads (25) and Huntley Stingrays (15).

The 12-hour event featured swimmers from age 5 to 18, as well as an exhibition coaches relay, a highlight of the day.

Two Trails Swim Team records were broken. Three of the four boys from the record-breaking 9-10 200M Medley Relay last year (Antonio Aguirre, Gaylord, Mason, Joe Hillyer) returned with Jace Kranig to beat the 2017 record with 2:50.10. Alec Orndahl also continued his streak of record-breaking by smashing the Boys 15&Up 100M Backstroke record he set four days prior by more than a second, with 1:05.15.

The team is halfway through it conference season with three duals remaining, including two home meets in July. The sason culminates with the Conference A Championships, which take place July 21 at Kishwaukee YMCA in Sycamore. Trails will compete against other NCISC A teams: Cary, DeKalb, Geneva, Huntley and Oswego. “We are proud of our swimmer's efforts at the Invitational and how much they have already improved,” said Head Coach Kayleigh Kozlowski, who swam with Trails from age 12 to 18. “The conference is the exciting conclusion and will show the results of all their hard work.”

The Trails Swim Team is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization that provides a positive atmosphere for physical and emotional development for its members within a competitive swim program.
