Trails Invitational 2019

The Trails Swim Team hosted its annual Invitational swim meet at Lions Armstrong Memorial Pool in Algonquin on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Trails finished the event with 990 points, in second to the Geneva River Rats (1139.5), followed by Cary Barracudas (750), Dundee Dolphins (287.5), Huntley Stingrays (65), HealthBridge Huntley HammerHeads (53), Dolphin Swim Club (16) and McHenry Marlins (12).

The 10-hour event featured swimmers from age 5 to 18, as well as an exhibition coaches relay, a highlight of the day.

Four Trails Swim Team records were broken. Penelope Brereton broke her record in the 9-10 Girls 50 Meter Free! New Record: 33.03 Previous: 33.22 and Mason Gaylord broke his record in the 11-12 Boys 50 Meter Breast! New Record: 37.20 Previous: 37.80. The 8 & Under Boys 100 Meter Free Relay team of Max Gaylord, Oliver Brereton, Logan Droste, & John Marzalik set a new record of 1:25.67 breaking the previous record of 1:25.86 set by B. Bocian, B. Caras, N. Idstein, & R. Krug in 2000. The 11-12 Boys 200 Meter Medley Relay team of Noah Brereton, Mason Gaylord, Charlie Mason, & Luke Johnson took over two seconds off the record they set earlier this season (New Record: 2:20.42; Previous: 2:22.86).

The team is halfway through its conference season with three duals remaining, including its final home meets on July 2. The sason culminates with the Conference Championships, which take place July 13 at Kishwaukee YMCA in Sycamore. Trails will compete against other NCISC teams: Cary, DeKalb, Geneva, Huntley, McGuire, Oswego, Rock River Valley and Woodstock. “We are proud of our swimmer's efforts at the Invitational and how much they have already improved,” said Head Coach Kayleigh Kozlowski, who swam with Trails from age 12 to 18. “The conference is the exciting conclusion and will show the results of all their hard work.”

The Trails Swim Team is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization that provides a positive atmosphere for physical and emotional development for its members within a competitive swim program.
