On October 1st ; CST held their annual intraquad meet to kick off the season! This years team names were choosen by the athletes themselves. We had team Lions and team Tigers. The whole morning there was a great atmosphere and all kids had a great time and swam fantastic. New PB's and team records were made as well! It was close for a long time, but team lions won eventually. Overall, a great kick off and we are ready for the season 2023-2024!
Three swimmers from Carib Swim Team finished their seasons over seas. The results were mixed, but there were definitely some positives! Joey Schvartz competed in two meets in Oyonnax, France. The first was the Final Benjamins/Junior meet. He swam to a few best times, and set a new team record for 13 year-old boys 100 backstroke (1:10.95). This was also a new team senior record. Joey's backstroke has been a bit off this season, so it was nice to see him return to form. His next meet was the Benjamins...
Gladys and Nazly are the perfect example that where there is a will, there is a way! Starting from absolute scratch and afraid of (deep) water, to passing their diploma C exam! Super proud of you ladies, well done!
Marine Management and Consulting sponsored this year's Summer Sizzler meet. The competition was attended by swimmers from four teams: Anquilla Aquastars, Dolphin Swim Team, Super Splash Swim Team, and host Carib Swim Team. It was the last meet of the 2022-2023 season for most of the swimmers, but they swam like the championship meet that it was! Event winners include Matias Piazza (CST), Darina Smirnova (CST), Jolien Wind (CST), Simon Creusot (CST), Nicolas Piazza (CST), Nihal Chugani (CST), Daan Vinke (CST), Maik Croes (SSST), Denecia Prince (CST), Nikki Grandtner (CST),...
Dinghy Dock restaurant in Simpson Bay was kind enough to donate the prizes for this year's Swim-A-Thon, which included a stand-up paddle board, and inflatable kayak, and more. As a thank you, families from CST had a family dinner at Dinghy Dock on Wednesday. Much fun was had. The big earners for the Swim-A-Thon were: 1. Yoshka Martinez ($520) 2. Hugo Petit ($500) 3. Nikki Grandtner ($445) In total $4095.49 was raised. We had a lot of help from some adult swimmers, many of whom aren't part of CST. As...
Ten CST swimmers partook in the annual Boardwalk Triathlon, sponsored by Trisport, and did their team proud! In the sprint relay event (750 meters for the swimmers), Gigi Cai helped her team (Team Saba and SXM) to the top of the podium. Nicolas Piazza was the first out of the water, and his team (Youth Power) finished second. Brandon Girier Dufournier lead his team to a third place finish. Individual participants (they did all three parts!) include Jolle Kamminga (5th place overall, 1st in his age group), Pepijn Vriezen (8th...
CST ran their third annual Swim-A-Thon fundraiser on Sunday. Although there were fewer swimmers than in past iterations, spirits were high, and many pancakes were consumed. We are thankful to PAC Distribution for sponsoring the Extreme Runners Triathlon group’s participation, as well as French Sea Rescue SNSM for sponsoring some swimmers as well. We must also thank Dinghy Dock for sponsoring the main prizes (Stand-Up Paddle Board, Inflatable Kayak, and more). We also are very appreciative of First Response, who once again are donating the T-Shirts for those earning over...
This year’s Swim Fest was a one session meet, but attracted not only the Sint Maarten teams, but also the Anguilla Aquastars, making for a fun and spirited meet. The St. Martin team at the 2023 CARIFTA games was composed of three CST swimmers, Saphir Thomas, Joey Schvartz, and Matias Piazza. Although a relatively small team, all three swimmers managed to score some final swims, even with Joey and Matias being at the bottom of their age group. Joey won the team’s only medal this year, gaining a silver medal in his 1500 free. He also finished 4th in 400 IM, 5th in 200 IM, and 4th in the 5K open water event. In all of these, he was...
