We have upgraded the lights in the pool area, and the results are night-and-day! The facility lights up like a Christmas tree in the evening and early morning hours now. Thanks to everybody involved in making this happen.
Carib Swim Team held it’s annual Holiday Bash Swim Meet on Sunday December 4th. The competition, the last of the year for most swimmers, proved to be highly successful, with CST swimmers achieving 14 new team records, 29 new time standards, and a boat load of new personal best times. Saphir Thomas broke a 13 year old record by swimming a 31.56 in 50 butterfly. Carib Swim Team contributed some of their swimmers for the 2022 Trisport Aquathlon. Although I don't have full results at this point (I will update this article when I get them), It does look like CST did their teams proud. Guardian Group once again sponsored Carib Swim Team’s annual Fall Invitational Swim Meet. Dolphins Swim Team and Super Splash Swim Team also attended, as this was the first island wide swim meet of the 2022/2023 season. Very good early season times were posted by swimmers from all three teams. Carib Swim Team was highlighted by nine new team records, along with a ton of newly met time standards. Taffi Illis and Arianna Lont will once again represent Sint Maarten at the FINA Short Course World Championships, to be held in Melbourne, Australia in December. The girls qualified at the Puerto Rico International Swimming Open over the weekend. In addition to booking their ticket to Melbourne, the girls combined for five CST team records. Arianna led the way with four records, with her 1500 free and 800 free topping the 15 year old list, as well as the senior records (overall, no matter what age). Taffi broke the 18/over...
Carib Swim Team enjoyed it's annual team dinner at Pineapple Pete on Friday, as a thank you for their fourth year of providing our annual t-shirt. Good times and good food was had by all. Many thanks to the management and staff at Pineapple Pete!
The Sint Maarten Aquatic Federation held an island-wide swim camp, composed of 36 swimmers from the three local swim clubs, including 18 swimmers from CST. These swimmers ranged in age from 8 to 17 years. The four day camp, held at the Carib Swim Team pool in Cole Bay from Monday 3rd – Thursday 6th October, proved to be very educational, and all swimmers came out with a better understanding of swimming technique. Carib Swim Team hosted it's fourth annual Red/Blue Intrasquad Meet. This year, the Blue Team out paced the Red Team 157 - 128. The younger swimmers posted many new best times. It was a little tougher for the older swimmers, as CST had a rough start in September due to our pool situation. Still, many were within striking distance of their times, which should bolster their hopes for a great season now that the tough training is underway. Among the many improvements to the CST pool is a lift to help people into the pool who otherwise would have issues. This will be mainly used by ProPhysio patients, but still makes our facility more accessible by the general community. Thank you to R4CR for helping us make this happen.
