Welcome to Salida Cyclones Swimming!

It is with excitement that we begin our 30 plus years as the awesome Salida Cyclones Swim Team. Thanks to all the parents and swimmers for their dedication and support which is directly responsible for the incredible success of our team.

The Cyclones is a registered USA Swimming Team which provides summer recreational swim teams, competing in the Southeastern Colorado Aquatics League (SECAL).   We provide a safe, fun-filled environment for children of all ages to compete at multiple levels ranging from novice 5 and 6 year olds to highly competetive state and U.S. regional and national level qualifiers. We train at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center.

History of Salida Cyclones

The Salida Cyclones Swim Team has been a part of our community since the 1970s. Legend has it that the team was started by Poopsie Phillips in 1971. That’s really her name! Swimming is a natural sport for our valley because we have the Arkansas River in our backyard. The institution has been passed down from season to season through generations of Chaffee families, who each added their expertise and love to the Cyclone legacy. Having such a high achieving sport team is a huge benefit to our community. Even if you don’t swim yourself, you can follow our competitions through the local newspaper, or simply benefit from living in a community with fit and self-disciplined youth.

Serves the county of Chaffee: All of our swimmers reside within or around Chaffee County.

We are a member of the Southeastern Colorado Aquatics League (SECAL).
