Our coaches, parents, volunteers, and board are dedicated to protecting our athletes and working toward our mission and vision together.

Minority Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) 

Coaches, Swimmers and Parents,

Programs and procedures that were once recommended ARE NOW MANDATORY. Please read in full and contact Heather Alexander with any questions at [email protected]

 

USA SWIMMING ATHLETES must now complete Athlete Protection Training by their 18th birthday. Compliance will be tracked through SWIMS, and those not in compliance will be prohibited from competition until compliance is achieved. THIS IS NOT AN OPTION.  There is no grandfather clause.

 

WHO IS AFFECTED BY MAAPP?

▪ All USA Swimming non-athlete members and adult athlete members; 

▪ Participating non-members (e.g. meet marshals, meet computer operators, timers, etc.); 

▪ LSC and club adult staff and board members; and 

▪ Any other adult authorized to have regular contact with or authority over a minor athlete. Collectively “Applicable Adult(s)”

For issues dealing with sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and/or sexually explicit or inappropriate communication through social media:

For issues dealing with physical abuse, emotional abuse, criminal charges and the use, sale or distribution of illegal drugs:

For issues dealing with peer-to-peer bullying, coach-athlete bullying, parent issues, violations of the CAT Code of Conduct and violations of the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy.

Note: With the exception of issues which immediately affect the health and safety of swimmers, all matters should be discussed before or after a coaching session, as coaches should not be expected to deal with issues during water time.
