MB Riptides impress in Capital City Invitational swim meet The Myrtle Beach Riptides swim team travelled to Cary, NC for the Capital City Invitational June 11-13. Seven members of the Riptides made the journey to the two-year old Triangle Aquatic Center. The Riptides placed 8th overall, leading all participating SC-based swim teams. MB Riptides pounce at Junior Jaguar Invitational The Myrtle Beach Riptides swim team participated at the 40th Annual Junior Jaguar Invitational swim meet May 7-9 at the Augusta Aquatics Center, Augusta, GA. The locally-based Riptides sent 9 members to the three day event where they garnered an impressive 41 personal best times, 38 top-8 finishes, 16 team records, 13 first-place finishes and 5 new SC Swimming State Championship qualifying times. MB Riptides swim well despite weather The Myrtle Beach Riptides swim team travelled to Charleston, SC for the first long-course meters meet of the summer April 24-25. Despite gale-force winds and patchy rain, the Riptides were able to achieve 31 personal best times and 15 team records. MB Riptides honored at State Banquet South Carolina Swimming held it’s annual awards banquet April 17-18 at Hilton Head, where eight members of the MB Riptides swimming team were honored for their achievements in swimming for 2009-10. The Riptides, for the second consecutive year, led the Grand Strand for swimmer achievement in both the pool and classroom. The Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team competed at the 2010 National Club Swimming Association’s (NCSA) Junior National Championships March 16-20 in Orlando, FL. Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team shines at Championship The 2010 Southern Zone Eastern Section Age-group Championship meet was hosted March 11-15 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte, NC. This year’s edition of the event was the largest in it’s history with more than 900 swimmers, ages 14-under, participating. MB Riptides swimming heats up at State Championships The Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team competed at the 2010 SC Swimming State Championships February 12-16, hosted at the YMCA of Spartanburg, SC. Although the weather was cold and leaving upwards of four inches of snow, the locally-based Riptides heated up the event with great competition. MB Riptides host Lowstate Qualifier; prepare for championship swim meets The Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team hosted the 2010 Lowstate Qualifier meet January 29-31 at the “Pepper” Geddings Recreation Center. The event brought over 130 swimmers to the area for the weekend event, their final opportunity to qualify to the championship event. From the meet, the Riptides’ finalized their 2010 SC Swimming State Championship team, adding one more swimmer and several individual events for others already qualified. MB Riptides’ Winter Invitational Huge Success The Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team hosted the 3rd Annual Winter Invitational January 15-17 at the “Pepper” Geddings Recreation Center.
