MB Riptides end successful 2009; look forward to 2010 The Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team participated in its final swimming meet for the 2009 calendar year the weekend of December 11-12 in Rock Hill, SC. Four members of the locally-based youth swimming team made the trip. MB Riptides swimming team continues record-setting ways The Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team recently traveled to Augusta, GA for the 2009 ASL Fall Invitational swimming meet. Nine swimmers from the locally-based Riptides made the journey for the 2 ½ day event amassing 17 new team records and 31 new personal best times. The Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team is proud to announce that Megan Kingsley (Conway Christian School, Carolina Forest resident) earned 12 national top-10 ranked swims for 2008-09. As a 12-year old, Kingsley was ranked 2nd in the nation in the 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard Individual Medley; 3rd in the nation in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard IM; 4th in the 1000-yard freestyle; 6th in the 100-yard backstroke; and 9th in the 100- and 1650-yard freestyles. Twelfth Annual Carey Hilliard’s Invitational Seven members of the MB Riptides travelled to Savannah, GA for the 2009 edition of the Carey Hilliard’s Invitational. Records fall at MPSC Grand Prix #1 The first meet of the 2009 12/Under Grand Prix Series took place October 3 at Mt Pleasant. The Riptides sent over 20 swimmers to the event. MB Riptides Swimmers Among the Nation’s Best in Pool, School Several swimmers of the locally-based Myrtle Beach Riptides swimming team have been recognized for their achievements in both their competitive swimming and in the classroom. USA-Swimming ranks swimmers based on individual performances within specific age-groups in a program called the IM-Extreme. Swimmers earn a rank based on their cumulative time in the 200-meter Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and the 400-meter Freestyle and Individual Medley events. Additionally, USA-Swimming recognizes swimmers in the 10th-12th grade in the classroom through the Scholastic All-American program....
