The 2009 Myrtle Beach Riptides Lowstate Qualifier was a GREAT meet for the Riptides! We had 19 swimmers compete in the meet, which is the largest number of swimmers we have ever had compete in a single meet. We had a 75% increase in personal best times - 68 total; 6 new SCS q-times; and 1 new SCS qualifier!!! We also had so many new "first-time" swims, the list would be very long! And out of all the swims, our number of dq’s continues to shrink. Our swimmers continue to...
The Riptides hosted their first meet as a team January 16-18 at the "Pepper" Geddings Rec Center. Although the meet turned out to be dual meet with our friends from the Greater Augusta Swim team, the swimming was quite fast. We even changed the format to make the meet more interesting for everyone. The Winter Invite was the first meet where the entire Riptides’ team could be together and watch each other compete. All of our training groups were represented, Bronze through Senior. It was a perfect opportunity for our...
SMRT Grand Prix #4 The final meet of the Grand Prix Series before the Championship took place January 3 in Charleston. Despite the earliness of the meet, the Riptides were able to send 13 swimmers to compete. And based on the overall results, the Riptides have picked up 2009 just where we left 2008 – swimming fast and learning skills. There were a large number of double-digit improvements, but Jack King led all swimmers with a 60-second improvement in the 200-freestyle! Jack also added two additional best times in the...

While one group of swimmers was ripping it up in Charlotte, another group of Riptides was doing the same at the SMRT Grand Prix in Charleston. Eleven swimmers and Coach Justin traveled to Charleston for more great swimming and an impressive 100% personal best times! Additionally, there were far less dq’s at this meet than at previous GP meets for the Riptides meaning that our young swimmers are learning their skills. Noah Cruz led all swimmers with a 29-second drop in his 50-free. "Wonka" Lewis improved over 20 seconds in...
The 2008 edition of the NSS 13-14/Senior Invite continued to be one of the best meets for our swimmers to participate. As the focus meet of the first part of the season, the Riptides swimmers ripped up the pool to achieve many personal best times, new championship q-times and even new SC Swimming State records! Julia Campbell earned new Age-group Sectional Championship q-times in the 100- and 200- breaststroke events and the 200- and 400-IM events. Julia led all swimmers with the largest improvement of 25 seconds in the 1650-free....

The MPSC Grand Prix meet was the largest meet for the Riptides. We sent 17 swimmers to compete, many for the first time. The meet went well and Coach Justin did a great job of handling all the swimmers (despite being a wee-bit late to the pool!). Jack King led all swimmers with the largest improvement of over 31 seconds in the 12/Under boys’ 100 back. Not far behind were Andi Churchill with a 27 second drop in the 12/Under girls’ 200 free and Noah Cruz, who improved over 25...
