For the last several years the Tour De Palm Springs Bicycle Ride has worked with the Piranha Swim Team in a fundraising effort. Last week five Piranha swimmers traveled to Long Beach to compete in the USA Swimming/Speedo CA/NV Sectional Championships. Kat Wickham's 7th place finish in the 1650 free was our top performance. In addition Kat had swims scoring in the B or C final in the 1000 free, 100 free, 200 free, and 500 free. Faith Travis swam to B and C final swims in the 1000, 200 back, and 100 back. The Piranha Swim Team has outdone itself once again in hosting a meet at a level that raises the bar for other hosts. We accomplished the two main goals of any meet: 1. Congratulations to Piranha Senior Platinum group swimmer Kat Wickham. Kat has earned USA Swimming Scholastic All American honors by excelling both in the pool and in the class room in 2012. High School Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors that achieve a designated time standard as well as maintain an exemplary GPA are selected to the All American Team. Competitive Aquatic Supply has agreed to be the new Piranha Swim Team vendor, selling our team suits, parkas, sweats, bags, as well as training equipment. A temporary order form can be found here until our webiste is up and running. CAS will be on deck Wednesday December 5th (palm springs only unfortunately), from 4pm to 5:30pm. The Piranha Swim Team is very excited to announce that Annbritt Holm will be returning to the Piranha Coaching staff next week. Coach Annbritt will be assisting our Age Group program by leading the Silver group in Palm Springs. Congratulations to long time Piranha and current Senior Group member Indira Ceranic. Indira has accepted a scholarship offer to attend and swim for Arizona State University next year. She will be coached by Dorsey Tierney and is the second Piranha to join the Sun Devils in recent years. Shannon Landgrebe is currently a Piranha alumni and Senior at ASU as well. Very proud of Indira, Shannon, and all of our other Piranha swimmers that have moved on to the next level of swimming.
