TRYOUT INFORMATION

Dolphin Aquatics (DA) hosts tryouts at the Crown Valley Aquatic Center (29751 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel). Tryouts are offered throughout the year. 

MINIMUM SWIM REQUIREMENTS:
 
**Must be at least 6 years old (5 year olds may be considered if they can meet the minimum swim requirements)
 
What Will My Swimmer Do in their Tryout?
 
Ages 6-8:  Swim 25 yards each of the following strokes: freestyle, backstroke. 
 
Ages 9-10:  Swim 50 yards each of the following strokes: freestyle, backstroke.  Demonstrate understanding of Breaststroke and Butterfly.
 
Ages 11-12:   Must be able to swim 100 yards freestyle, 50 yards backstroke, 25 yards Breaststroke and 25 yards Butterfly unassisted.
 
Ages 13&O:  Must be able to meet swim requirements for Gold Group/Senior 2/Fitness Training
 
 
​Please wear a swimsuit to tryouts and bring goggles and a towel.**
 
 
 
All swimmers new to DA must attend a scheduled tryout and have coach approval before registering to join the team.
                                                                     
Minimum Requirements for trying out with Dolphin Aquatics.  Although we would like to accept all children on the swim team, we must make sure that each child meets the group prerequisite. If your swimmer cannot meet the minimum swim requirements, we will suggest that they enroll in a lesson program and then schedule a tryout when they have mastered the minimum swim requirements.  DA is a competitive swim team and not a substitute for a swim lesson program.

** It's helpful if swimmers wear a swim cap if their hair is past their ears.  Girls should wear a one-piece swimsuit and it's preferable if boys wear a speedo or jammer type suit for the try-out.  Again, not required for the try-out although they will be required if you join the team.  (For boys, board shorts are allowed for the try-out, however, they will not be allowed for team practices.)
