Volunteers
Volunteers are essential to SSA’s success—both in leadership and in running meets.
Leadership
SSA is led by a Board of Directors, serving staggered three-year terms, along with the offices of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. These positions are often filled by individuals who have been involved with the team for at least a year, but that’s not a requirement. Ideally, leaders can commit to serving SSA for several years.
Meet Operations
It takes dozens of volunteers to host a swim meet. In summer, SSA typically hosts three dual meets, and in the Fall–Spring season, we host two larger meets. Volunteer roles range from timers, bullpen coordinators, concession workers, and ribbon writers to technical positions like running the Colorado timing system, Meet Manager software, or serving as certified officials.
No prior experience is required for many positions—new families can jump in right away. You’ll learn quickly, meet other parents, and have more fun by being actively involved.
Why It Matters
SSA is known for running smooth, well-organized meets thanks to strong volunteer participation. To keep this tradition going, we rely on all families to help when called upon. Before each meet, we send out sign-up requests for various roles—please say yes!
