The La Mirada Senior Invitational started off with a bang this evening, with TSM swimmers dropping time across the board! In all, seven athletes competed, most of whom posted lifetime bests in the 1500 freestyle. Of special note, Andrew Hacker clocked in at 16:38, acheiving his first NCSA Junior's qualifying time! His performance was followed shortly by Scott Simmer dropping more than 30 seconds, giving him is first U.S. Junior Nationals qualifying time, which will be swum in Indianapolis later this summer. TSM's Andrew Hacker wore silver after the 17-18 Boys 5K on Sunday at the Australian Open Water Championships in Perth!  Fighting back from 10th place in a very physical one hour race to hold the lead until the final 200 meters, Andrew finished in 1:00:37.35 to claim second place in his age group.  Only 10 seconds separated finishers 1 through 10!  He also raced the 10K nearly 3 minutes faster than his previous best, completing the grueling course in approximately 2hr10min.  Congratulations, Andrew! His reward? An invitation to the United States Olympic swim trials.
