Amazing Swims at BASS Turkey Classic!
Richmond, VA….. Each and every year our Rapids family embarks on a journey to gobble up as many new best times, qualifying times and great swims as we can before we head into the Thanksgiving Holiday. Thankfully, since we are all swimmers, being full with greatness from the BASS Turkey Classic has never hurt our appetites heading into Thanksgiving or even the rest of the season. If anything, the delectable swims we enjoy in mid-November each year actually make us hungier for more as we head into the mid-season championship meets and beyond. This time around, we had a team record 240 swimmers competing in the meet and the results were as staggering as usual! We welcomed new athletes to our championship teams, broke team records, has some crazy huge drops and even won a ton of races. It was amazing and each of you should be incredibly proud of yoursleves!

Drew Mariscalco & Kensie Toepp Join Age Group Champs Team!
You should have seen Kensie Toepp absolutely flying across the pool in her 50 freestyle! The only thing bigger than the swim itself was the huge smile on her face when she saw the clock and fully realized what she had just accomplished..........a first Age Group Champs time! This is just the beginning for the budding Pre-Senior star as her work ethic and determination just continues to grow and grow, leading to even bigger and better things coming down the line! Joining on the AG Champs team was one of our star 11-12 boys, Drew Mariscalco. He LOVES his breaststroke, just in case you didn't already know that about him. And even though all of his strokes have gotten so much better over the years, the 50 breast is his first true love. And now, it's his first 11-12 AG Champs cut! Congrats to both of you on your well-deserved success, and congrats to each of our Rapids swimmers below for earning new championship cuts!
Bonus Shout-Out to Lexi Hysnt who just continues to rise to new levels! She keeps adding new AG Champs cuts, but set her sites on something bigger this season. And she's gotten there with her first ever Age Group Zones cut!

8 & Under Boys Lead Rapids to 7 New All-Time Team Records!
These boys are absolutely on FIRE this season!! We have had some pretty amazing 8 & under boys over the years, as you can see in our record books as well as our All-Time Top 10 list. But in the 5.5 years of our team's wonderful history, we have never had such a deep, fast and YOUNG group of 8 & unders who are destroying it the way our boys are! Congratulations to Lukas Bell (only 7y!) Kellan Yosay (only 6y!), Sully Batten, Isaac Champman (only 7y!) & Jameson Dilmore for smashing the boys two 100 free and medley records!! Camryn Gustafson, Lilly Flynn & Josiah Weber Lead SwimRVA in Overall Event Victories!
Can you believe that 33 different SwimRVA athletes won individual events at the BASS Turkey Classic?? We sure love that home cookin in our beautiful pool at SwimRVA-CSAC and three of our best chefs were serving up several dishes throughout the meet. Josiah Weber closed up what can only be described as one of the most accomplished 13-14 careers we have ever seen with 5 different victories. For the 12 & unders, Camryn Gustafson and Lilly Flynn both proved yet again that they are among the best of the best of the best for 11-12 and 10 & Under girls as they each captured an astonishing 6 wins! It was remarkable to witness and we are honored to have each of your representing the Rapids in the most positive way! Congratulations to you and the other 30 Rapids swimmers who won a total of 73 races at the BASS Turkey Classic!

Kylee Crotts & Garrett Dowler Both Earn Incredible 41 second Ginormous Drops!
Not one, but TWO Rapids swimmers went on a rampage in thei IM races as both Kylee Crotts (400 IM) and Garrett Dowler (200 IM) earned some ridiculously huge 41 seconds GINORMOUS DROPS to lead SwimRVA! Whenever we put together this list of "Ginormous Drops" for athletes who cut more than 10 seconds off of their individual races, we always hope it's going to be a big group. But come on.......48 swimmers?? That's amazing! You were incredible all week long and you were ROWDY in the pool! And if you've seen how consistent Kylee and Garrett have been coming to practices to improve themselves, you would not be surprised to see them on the list. But 41 second drops in the IM?? That's insane! Way to go Rapids!
