SwimRVA Rapids Senior SPEED

The Senior Speed Group at SwimRVA is a revolutionary one that helps Rapids athletes of various levels strive to achieve their goals in swimming events, typically known as "sprint" events.  For some, this may be a great introduction into year-round swimming while helping them prepare for a more traditional "Senior" level of training.  For others, it may be fun but still challenging opportunity to unapologetically train as a sprinter as they improve their speed in their shorter races either for USA Swimming meets, high school or even summer league competitions.

All athletes must have started their first year of 9th grade and must have a minimum of an "Junior" level of swimming ability and above (Class 3-6 ability).  This will provide a great social opportunity for several high schoolers in the area who also want to advance their competitive racing skills and we cannot wait to welcome your swimmer to the group.

What to Expect:

  • 1-hour and 30-minute practices.  Practices designed with the end of the season competition as the focus.  Athletes will be expected to set challenging goals in all areas of their lives and work to maintain balance through good time management.  Coach-athlete interaction will focus on positive self-talk and mindset.  Athletes will set athletic goals to achieve at high levels.  Practices will be an intricate mix of fast-paced swimming, fast intervals, and high-level technical skill.
  • Specific training will revolve around the goals of the athlete and will specifically zero in on traditional shorter "sprint" events.  This will include a level of training that requires a focus on the five "E's"....Effort, Energy, Execution, Enthusiasm and Encouragement.
  • Socials designed for team-building outside of the pool
  • Newsletters about current and future success stories, topics, and events
