SwimRVA Class 1 Rapids - NOVICE

Swimmers in the SwimRVA Class 1 Rapids - Novice must know how to swim all four strokes legally and will focus on refining the fundamentals of those skills.  This is a perfect group for the swimmer just finishing swim lessons and looking to explore the sport or swim for fitness.  Swimmers are encouraged to participate in the Richmond Community League meets as an introduction to competitive swimming.

What to Expect: 

  • 45-minute practice consisting of land and water swimming instruction, working on technique, endurance, skills for competition and fun!
  • Engaging swim meets where swimmers can see their progress from practice
  • Socials designed for team-building outside of the pool
  • Newsletters about current and future success stories, topics, and events

Equipment Encouraged To Use: 

  • Junior (small) kickboard
  • Swim cap/hair tie for long hair
  • Goggles
  • Items can be found at our TYR Team Gear Store

SwimRVA Class 1 Rapids – Novice Fees (2023/2024)

$159 per month  +  $99 registration fee

** SwimRVA Swim Team shirt, SwimRVA Swim Team suit included.

** USA Swimming registration not included.

The Richmond Community Swim League meets will be once a month starting in October and ending in April. Each meet will be on Friday evening with warm-ups starting at 6:00 PM and the meet begins at 6:30 PM.  Meets are expected to last two hours.  Participation in these engagement opportunity events is optional, but we strongly encourage each athlete to participate and support their teammates. 

 

Financial Aid

SwimRVA offer significant financial aid to families with gross annual income below 300% of the federal poverty guidelines.  Depending on qualifying income level, SwimRVA covers between 40-80% of the program fees to ensure all our program fees are financially accessible.
