Rapids CRUSH the Icebreaker Invite with Loads of Best Times and Great Swims!
Rowdy Rapids Dominate at the VSTP Icebreaker Invite!
Warrenton, VA….. Each and every year, SwimRVA shows up to the Icebreaker Invite in a big way and has a huge presence at the fun winter meet hosted by Valley Swim Team-Phoenix. The 2023 version was no different and even better in a lot of ways! We saw several new qualifying times, TONS of best times, and even had a huge number of athletes earning finals swims for the first time ever and making the most of those opportunities. It was amazing to see!
The team travel portion of the meet was so much fun too! When we look back on the athletes who came to that meet for the first time last year, we are reminded by just how much this particular competition changed them for the better and set them off on a path towards individual improvement and greatness. It’s exciting to think which of our swimmers from this year will find themselves sprinting towards newfound prestige!

If you have ever had the pleasure of interacting with Caleb Cohen, it has probably included a smile and/or a witness to some incredibly hard work! Even when he’s pushing himself to the limit, this tough young man from the Pre-Senior group grits down, throws a smile on his face and works till failure time and time again. The results have been awesome too as he has now earned his first Age Group Champs cuts in the 100 and 200 breast at the Icebreaker Invite! Keep up the awesome work Caleb, because it is absolutely paying off and even better things are on the horizon.

Amazing swim Crawford and welcome to the Championship team! Ellenberger & Craig Lead Rapids with over 50 Second Ginormous Drops!
Carson Ellenberger is a great example as to why you absolutely should swim the middle distance and distance events. Not only do you gain experience that makes the races seem easier and shorter the next time around, it also gives you a great understanding of how you can improve yourself in your training. In the case of Carson, it also showed him just what an impact coming to practice on a consistent basis can do. For him………it does amazing things as he dropped nearly a minute in the 500 free even though it isn't normally one of his primary events!! Wow Carson, well done!!
Not to be outdone, Crawford Craig was having himself one heck of a meet! In fact, he was having ginormous drops left and right, including his 53 second drop in the 500 free. The only thing that slowed him down on the last day was an unfortunate illness, but not after he got his 100 back qualifying time for Senior Champs! Amazing weekend Crawford!
