SDAT Grievance Procedure

SDAT’s goal is to nurture a healthy and safe environment. Swimmers and parents are encouraged to communicate with each other and with coaches to resolve any issues that may arise.  Most issues can be resolved through talking with the Coaches and/or the Safe Sport Rep.  If you have any concerns, your head coach is your first contact.

If a Safe Sport issue, question, or clarification of a policy arises, please contact the team Safe Sport Representative for SDAT: Stephenie Glissmeyer [email protected].  If you have question and concerns that are outside SDAT that involve Utah Swimming, contact the Safe Sport Chair of Utah Swimming, Mo Schiffman [email protected].

If your concern regards serious and urgent matters like the following:

Criminal activity, drug use, physical abuse, inappropriate touching, Coaches misconduct, rubdowns or massages done by coaches, pictures or videos taken in locker rooms and MAAP violations.

Immediately go to https://www.usaswimming.org/articles-landing-page/2017/05/08/safe-sport-report for instructions on who and where to make a report, your Club and LSC Safe Sport Reps can also guide you in the process. Please note that every USA registered adult member is considered a mandatory reporter and have legal obligations to report certain incidents of abuse. USA Swimming’s mandatory reporting rule is as follows:

“Pursuant to federal law, all adults authorized to interact with minor or amateur athletes who learn of facts that give reason to suspect that a child has suffered an incident of child abuse, including sexual abuse, shall make a report of the suspected abuse to law enforcement and/or your state’s designated agency within 24 hours.”
