SDAT Photography Policy

SDAT’s photography policy mirrors the Rec Center’s Photography Policy which is as follows:

“Taking photographs of other patrons is not permitted in the South Davis Recreation Center without the knowledge and consent of the individual(s) being photographed.  This includes individuals in the background of selfies. Cell phones and cameras are not permitted at all within the locker room areas, and no photography is allowed in the pool areas.”

As an exception, photographs are allowed from the stands during some Sanctioned Swim meets. Regulations for photography during swim meets will be included in the Sanction.  Occasionally, the Rec Center may use photographs taken from public sessions, practices for their advertising.  If you would like to opt out and insure your child is not photographed and not included in any photos on the Team or Rec Center Website, you can notify the Aquatics Management Team and/or the Head Coach.

Images taken of children can be misused and children can be put at risk if common sense procedures are not observed.

The publishing of a photograph or video of a swimmer under the age of 18 should only be done with a parents’ consent. SDAT will not publish any swimmer's photo without prior parental consent.

All photographs must observe generally accepted standards of decency, in particular:

  • Action shots should be a celebration of the sporting activity and not a sexualized image in a sporting context.
  • Action shots should not be taken or retained where the photograph reveals a torn or displaced swimsuit.
  • Photographs should not be taken from behind the swimming blocks at the start of a race or exhibit a child climbing out of the swimming pool
  • Photographs should not be taken in locker-rooms or bathrooms.
