1. All registration forms for returning GBY swimmers are due. If you haven’t turned these in, get these in by the end of this week. For all new GBY swimmers, your forms are due by the end of next week after your informational meeting on Tuesday. I have not invited many swimmers yet to Gold III. Reason being is that most Silver swimmers are unable to complete the Friday set to meet the requirement. Until a Silver Swimmer can meet the Friday requirement for Gold III they will remain Silver Swimmers. I will continue to invite Silver swimmers to Gold III based on their progress. A Gold III swimmer is expected to attend 4-5 practices per week.
2. The New Parent Informational meeting is next Tuesday, October 25, in the 2nd Floor boardroom of the DT Y. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm. We will go over all the registration forms and team handbook. This handbook will undergo some changes and updates related to Team Unify but those will not be ready for the Tuesday meeting. I will also talk about Team Unify, your team responsibilities as team parents and some other items related to being on the Green Bay Y swim team. The meeting should conclude by 8:30pm. Any family that is new to the GBY swim team should have a parent at this meeting.
3. We are in the deployment process of our Team Unify team website. Our official go-live date is November 8. I am currently working with the Team Unify people to get our site ready to go. Beginning with our November 30 Mock meet and December 3 Sprint Meet, we will use the site for meet entries and worker sign-up for our home meets. All future meets will be entered through our Team Unify website. We also will eliminate the hard copy of the weekly newsletter. This may begin sooner than November 30. We will also have a news blog and event list on the front page which will keep you current to all swim team activities and also connect you to all swim meets and other events we have as a swim team. The Y is looking at the billing system but will not go to that immediately. More info later. At this point, I will use all registration forms to get information needed to upload our current team database into our Team Unify Website. Access will be initiated by an email to an
email address which will allow you access to set your family page in the site. You will love all the features that this is going to provide our families including instant access to your swimmer’s times. I will keep everyone posted on our progress. Take a look at FCY or Oshkosh Y to get a good idea of what we are getting.
4. We will participate in the Oshkosh Champion Meet on November 18-20, 2011. This meet is held at the Oshkosh Y. The meet information will be emailed out. Please read over the meet information carefully. I will also post a copy on the DT Y pool bulletin board and a few extra copies of the order of events. Please fill out the attached entry form and return the completed form to Coach Dave no later than Monday, October 31. You may also drop this off at the DT Y front desk or email all the information to Coach Dave.
5. We will participate in the WGLO meet on November 18-20, 2011. This meet will be held at the Schroeder Aquatic Center. The meet information will be emailed out along with our reservation list. Only those swimmers who reserved spots are guaranteed entry into the meet. But you also are obligated to pay for all 6 events you reserved. If you did not reserve and would like to try to get into the meet, please submit an entry, and I will try to get you into the meet. All swimmers entering this meet must be USA-registered and have the qualifying times needed to swim events. I will also post a copy of the meet info on the DT Y pool bulletin board. Please read the meet information carefully. Please fill out the attached entry form and return the completed form to Coach Dave by no later than Wednesday, October 26. You may also drop this off at the DT Y front desk or email all the information to Coach Dave.
6. Assorted Notes –
- The meeting for National Team swimmers and parents scheduled for this Friday after practice has been postponed. I will get a new meeting date out to as soon as we schedule another time.
- Team suit sale is Wednesday, November 2, from 5:45-8:30pm at the DT Y. Walter’s Swim Supplies will be here to size and sell team suits, warm-ups, goggles, practice suits, etc. I will email out the order form and price list.
- Saturday practices have begun for Gold I (and invited Gold II) swimmers on Saturday from 6-8am at the BV Y. We will have Saturday practices on the following Saturday’s in 2011: October 15,22,29, November 12, & December 17. We will also practice on Saturday December 24 & 31 but those times will be announced later.
- Please remember that all GBY swimmers must scan their membership card before entry in to our Y’s. If you need a membership card, stop at any Y front desk and they can make you one. I would suggest a key card which could be attached to the swimmer’s bag so they always have it.
