- Sixty two GBY swimmers are participating in the Y State Championships at the Schroeder Aquatic Center. Please refer to the Schroeder website for heat sheets. PRINT YOUR OWN HEAT SHEETS. The entry list & relays are posted on our website. Warm-ups are as follows – Friday 3:45-4:45pm, meet start at 5pm. For the early AM session (8&unders, 9-10’s) warm-ups are at 7:30am, and meet starts at 8:20am. For all 11&over swimmers the AM warm-ups begin at 10:15am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday. The meet will begin at 11:20am on Saturday, and 11:10am on Sunday. Please be early for all warm-up sessions and also to find a spot to sit in the bleachers. I and Coach Kari will be at the meet all weekend.
Also remember that tomorrow at practices there will be team meetings at 5:30pm for the early practice swimmers DT. And at 6:30pm for our practice at BV. I will have the Y State shirts and swim caps to pass out. There are no practices on Friday.
- The entry deadline for Y Nationals is Monday night, March 19. Please enter the meet or commit if you will attend to fill a relay. The practice schedule for National swimmers is posted on the website calendar. We will schedule a team meeting closer to the meet to include parents to go over more details about the meet. I will be sending in the rooming list after the entry for Y Nats is completed. Double check to make sure that you have given me the dates of your stay and type of room needed.
- The stroke clinic schedule is posted on the website calendar. These will begin on Wednesday, April 11th and run through Monday, April 30. I do have some stroke clinics set up for our Bronze and Silver swimmers on Mondays and Thursdays, 4:15-5:30pm. All the Monday, Thursday clinics at BV from 7-8:30pm are for Gold and approved Silver Swimmers. Both Wednesday clinics are open to everyone. Cost of stroke clinics is $5.00 per session. Those who pay additional tuition for clinics will not be charged. GBY Swimmers only need to show up. Attendance will be taken and families will be charged for clinics through their escrow accounts.
Spring/Summer Season will run from Wednesday, May 9 – Wednesday, August 1. This practice times are also on the calendar on the website. I will in the next couple weeks get the meet schedule on the website.
- Tuesday evening, May 8, 6:30-8:30pm, I will run an all-parent meeting at the DT Y in room 1D. A parent from all families is expected to attend this meeting. I have many important items to go over prior to the start of the season. PLEASE MARK THIS DATE ON YOUR CALENDAR.
- All charges to include Y State, Y State shirts, and Y Nats will be put in the website early next week. Please pay all balances by March 31, 2012. We have a number of families who are accumulating quite a balance and ask that these please be taken care of ASAP. You can pay by credit card over the phone by calling a business staff at the DT Y. You can also pay at the front desk of the DT Y. Thank you for handling these matters promptly.
- Assorted Notes
· We should be posting sign-up information on the website very soon about our Award Banquet. The banquet is Friday, May 11, at the Riverside Ballroom. Sign-up will be done on the website. Please mark this date on your calendar.
· We will also be running the first water station at the Cellcom Marathon on Sunday morning, May 20th. We will need about 75 volunteers for this event. You will sign-up for this volunteer opportunity on the website too. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt.
· Please remember that all GBY swimmers must scan their membership card before entry in to our Y’s. If you need a membership card, stop at any Y front desk and they can make you one. I would suggest a key card which could be attached to the swimmer’s bag so they always have it.
· Winter reminder – All swimmers should be dressing properly for the weather. Including a winter coat, hat and no shorts. I will try to monitor this when I can but please ensure that your kids are dressed properly for the weather.
