Olympic Trials - Monday, June 25
Fantastic first day of Trials. Ryan Lochte was the first swimmer to officially make our Olympic team. He won the 400 IM. Peter Vanderkay & Elizabeth Beisel also made the team in the 400 Free and 400IM. The Olympic Team is allowed 26 men and 26 women. So until we have multiple winners then the 2nd place swimmers will start being placed on the team. Thus they are only presenting one swimmer so far.
Lots of lights, pyrotechnics and special effects. I hope everyone is enjoying the meet.
Luke Bushman swims 200 Fly on Wednesday morning. I would estimate around 10:30-11:00am.
John Bushman swims 200 Breast on Thursday morning. I would estimate around 11:00-11:30am.
All prelims are streamed live on the USA Swimming website. (Except the final heats which NBC has the rights for and those are the ones show on TV before the Live Finals on NBC.)
Off to the pool for morning prelims. John will train at 4:30pm each day. There are times suggested for when to have your athletes workout. They keep the main pool open for only the competing swimmers in that session. But nothing is ever to crowded. The morning of the swims we will go in earlier to get some warm-up swimming in the main pool but we will also utilize the warm-up pool leading right up to the races.
Races today. Womens 100 Back, Men's 200 Free, Women's 100 Breast, Men's 100 Back, & women's 400 Frees. Finals tonight on TV will be women's 100 Fly & 400 Free, and the men's 100 Breast. All the events listed above will have their 2 sem-final heats tonight too. More Great swimming!
More later.
