Olympic Trials, Day 4

John swam his 200 Breaststroke yesterday morning.  Heat 7 Lane 6.  They actually have a clerk of course where all swimmers must report.  They call it the ready room.  From there they bring a heat at a time up to the pool deck and then parade them out before their heat swims.  I have attached a picture of John behind the blocks and getting ready for his warm-up in the main pool.  John had trouble getting loose this week.  Even with lot's of stretching and long easy stretching he still said he was "Tight".  John had been putting some good times out for some watch work we were doing during the week.  John actually swam a great first 50 and an OK second 50, but as John says my body did just not have it in the 2nd 100 and he ascended his 50 splits.   It was a tremendously proud moment for me to watch John go through the whole pomp and circumstance of Olympic Trials.    John and Luke left shortly after the prelims and dropped Luke off at the airport and then headed home.  John may have been at morning practice today.

Today is my last day in Omaha.  One more day of prelims and finals.  Tonight is the Men's 100 Freestyle Final which should be exciting.  The Top 6 finishers are usually named to the Olympic Team.  The two alternates will swim the really in London in the prelims.  Then our top 4 will swim the relay at night.  All 6 though will recieve the medal though.

I am up early tomorrow for my drive back home to Green Bay.  Look forward to being back to practices with the team on Monday.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the Trials this week.  And hopefully my notes gave you a little more insight on the meet and the Olympic Team.

See you all on Monday.
