Re: 1) Oshkosh Make A Difference Meet 2) USA State Meets 3) GBY Summer Team Championship meet 4) August “year-round” practices 5) Escrow Accounts 6) Swim Team Camp at Camp Uni 7) Assorted notes
- (33) GBY swimmers are participating in the Oshkosh Make A Difference Meet, at the Oshkosh Y. Please check Oshkosh website for exact warm-up and meet start times. But meet info states 9:30am for distance session warm-up and noon for the Sprint session. Coach Bill and I will be at the meet.
- Both entries are open for the USA State Meets. 12&under entry closes Sunday night, July 15, and 13&over closes Sunday, July 22. Please make sure that you read over the meet information carefully if you are attending these meets.
- The entry for the Summer Team Championship meet is now open. Please notice a change to the events. I put in all events as Open. This will allow all of our team members to compete against each other based on their seed times. I also put in some Open 25 yard race for our 8&under swimmers and Silver Sharks that may prefer to do a 25 yard race instead of a 50. This entry will be open until Tuesday, July 31. I will invite all the Silver Sharks to participate also but their entries will be done manually through a newsletter handed out to them at practices. Silver Sharks are not members of the team so they do not have access to the website. All GBY swimmers are encouraged to participate in this meet. This will be the last event of the summer season except for those GBY swimmers participating in the 13&over State meet. We will need parents to set-up and run the computer and timing system, to help time and to also officiate the meet. I will leave the organization of the meet workers up to the Meet and Equipment sub-committees. Plan on about a 4:45pm start time for this meet. Swimmers will begin warm-ups at 3:45pm.
- We will continue to run workouts for our “year round” swimmers beginning Monday, August 6. These should all be scheduled from 3:45-5:30pm at the DT Y until August18 and then for a week at BV while the DT Y pool is shut down (Aug 19-26) and then back DT. There will be some days that we will not practice due to not having a coach available. I have gone for a couple weeks in August so I must rely on my assistants when they are available to cover these workouts. I will publish a schedule ASAP. Keep posted to the schedule on the website for the final August and early September practice schedule.
- Today I put in the charges for the Birdbath meet and charges for the WGLO meet went in on Monday. As of right now I have (49) families who are carrying balances owed to the Y. A lot of these families are those swimmers participating in the USA State Meets. I would ask that all families please take care of these balances by July 16th before I begin entering your swimmers in the State Meets. The Y is expecting a lot of monies to come into the escrow system this month to cover all of these balances. Again we ask that families be proactive about keeping ample monies in their escrow accounts to cover all expenses before they are charged to you. Thank you to those families that do a great job of keeping up and ahead in your escrow accounts. You may pay your escrow account at the DT Y front desk or call in with your credit card to the DT Y to a business staff to take your payment.
- I currently only have (2) male and (1) female chaperone for swimmer’s camp at Camp Uni. We must have a minimum of (4) female chaperones. We already have enough male. Please contact by the end of next week if you can volunteer and help with chaperoning. Otherwise we may have to cancel the camp for this summer. Thank you.
- Assorted notes –
· There will be a Saturday AM practice this week at BV from 6-8am. All Gold I&II swimmers may attend.
· Please remember your membership cards when you are entering our YMCA’s. If you need a new card you may stop at any Y front desk and they will make you a new one.
· Thanks to the help of our afternoon swimmer with putting their bags in the corner of the pool by the aquatic director’s office. This helps a lot to alleviate the crowding before and after practices.
