Re: 1) Happy Thanksgiving 2) GBY Sprint Meet & Mock Meet – entry & job-sign up 3) New Parent’s Informational Meeting 4) Turkey Trot Water Station 5) Upcoming Dates 6) Assorted notes
1) Happy Thanksgiving to all of our swimmers and their families. Safe travels! There are no practices Thursday-Sunday, Nov 22-25. Practices tonight are as scheduled.
2) Entry deadline for the GBY Sprint Meet and Mock Meet closes Sunday night, November 25 at midnight. Please ensure that all swimmers are entered into the meets. I will post the first entry list for both meets on Monday. You will receive more info next week regarding the meets including heat sheets. All GBY swimmers should participate and all GBY parents are needed to work the Sprint Meet.
For the Mock Meet next Wednesday at 6:15pm all swimmers should meet with the assistant coaches and all parents should be in the pool balcony. I will give all the new families a quick walk through of the building as it relates to swim meets. All Parent Group leaders should have people in place to train all parents on their job assignments for the meet. This should be done at 6:30pm while the kids are warming up for the swimming meet. The meet should start around 7:30pm.
For the Sprint Meet next Saturday, December 1, all morning swimmers & parents will need to be at the DT Y pool for set-up at 7am. Meet committee please have in place some leadership and directions for the parents role in the set-up. The swimmers will take care of the lane ropes, backstroke flags and pool set-up. But help will be needed with the tables and chairs, as well as laying rugs on the pool deck and stairwell, etc. The afternoon swimmers & parents will have to take care of tearing down, and clean-up. This would include putting all tables, chairs and other times back to where we got them. Cleaning up the pool deck, and other areas of the YMCA affected by the meet. The Gold team will take care of the a lot of this clean-up.
Look on each page for these meets on the websites. You will see first entry lists next Monday afternoon. Please get signed before the deadline.
3) Thank you to the many parents who attended the New Parent Information meeting this past Tuesday night. A lot of good information was shared and there were many great questions. Please take a look at the website and good luck on your first meet entries for your swimmers.
4) Thank you to all my volunteers for the Turkey Trot Fluid Station for tomorrow morning. Please be at Calvary Lutheran Church by 7am for set-up and training. Parents please bring along a rake and shovel for picking up cups after the race. The t-shirts will be distributed tomorrow AM at the sight. Again please arrive by 7am so we can get your shirt to you. Depending on temperature….and it is suppose to be nice I would wear either another long sleeve shirt or sweat shirt under your volunteer shirt. So when you arrive you can just throw your shirt over whatever you’re wearing. With clean-up and everyone’s help we should be done by 9:15am. See you all tomorrow AM before 7am. See webpage for map.

6) Assorted Notes
· Park & Rec has asked us to move our Tuesday, December 11 practices from SWHS to Edison Middle School. The Green Bay United Boys high school team is going to host a meet at SWHS that evening.
· Please ensure that everyone is keeping up with the Team events on the calendar. Registration deadlines are coming up for the GBY Sprint & Mock Meets. These registrations close on Sunday night, November 25. DCY Jingle Bell meet closes Sunday, December 2.
· Parent Group committee meetings have been moved to the first Mondays of the Month. Exception being December where we will move that meeting back to November 26 to meet before our December 1 Sprint Meet. These Parent Group Committee meetings are on the website calendar. Next meeting is Monday, November 26.
· We have scheduled our annual awards banquet for Friday, May 10, at the Riverside Ballroom. Please get this on your calendars right away. We will do a sign-up for this on the website.
· Please ensure that you have monies in your escrow account to cover all upcoming swim meets. Thank you for taking care of this ahead of the charges.
· A reminder to all GBY swimmers. The only swim cap acceptable at meets is a GBY cap. This includes are standard Blue cap but also includes the Yellow and Green Hats that have GBY on them too. Also expected is for all swimmers to wear a team suit or an acceptable tech suit. Dark, one color is recommended on tech suits. I have ordered more silicon hats and they should be here in about 3 weeks. We still have latex caps available for sale at the DT Y front desk for $3.00 each. There is also a order page on the website for personalized silicon GBY caps if interested. I will send out a note when the new GBY silicon caps arrive.
· A reminder that all GBY swimmers ages 8&over must scan their membership upon entry to all Green Bay YMCA’s. If you need a new card stop at the front desk and have them make you a new one. It is very time consuming especially during the rush around team practices to have to stop and type in your information manually to make sure you are a member. Thank you for taking care of this matter.
· REMINDER - All swimmers should be showering before using any pool for practices. This can be a big help with the air quality. Thank you for doing this.
