1)      Congratulations to our all of our GBY swimmers for a 3^rd place finish at the Y State Meet.  We had 18 State Championships won by GBY swimmers and relays.  All results are posted on the website.

2)      Ten GBY swimmers will be attending the Y National Meet in Greensboro, NC next week.  The meet is Wednesday-Saturday, April 3-6, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.  They will be streaming the meet live on the internet. Refer to the Y National swimming and diving website.  The Y Logo on the right on the home page of our website is the link to the site.  All information including entry list, relays and itinerary is on the website.  Due to Y Nationals there will be no swim team practices from March 31 – April 10.  GBY swim team will resume on Thursday, April 11 with the first day of Stroke Clinics.

3)      Stroke clinics begin on Thursday, April11.  Topics and schedules are on the calendar on the web site.  GBY swimmers only to need to show up at the clinics they want to attend.  Attendance will be taken and all swimmers who attend will be charged $5.00 per clinic through their escrow accounts in late April. The assistant coaches and I will be running these clinics.

4)      PLEASE, by the end of the week I ask that all families take care of all escrow balances.  I would also ask that monies be put in for upcoming stroke clinics.  We currently have 32 families owing balances to the Y for their escrow accounts.  Thanks to all for keeping current on your escrow balances.

6)      Assorted Notes

·         Cellcom Marathon Water Station Volunteers – Again the GBY swim team will be running the first water station on the Marathon/Half-marathon course.  I need about 75 volunteers to make this happen.  The Marathon is on Sunday, May 19.  Our water station will be in the same location at Marquette Park on Hickory Hill St.  We will need people to arrive by 6am for set-up and should be completed torn down and cleaned up by about 8:15am.  You may sign-up on the website now.  I will need names of those who are volunteering and their T-shirt size.  Young swimmers are welcome to help out but must have a parent with them to help also.  All Gold Level swimmers should volunteer.  Thank you!

·         I have posted the Summer meet schedule & Stroke Clinics on the calendar and website.  I have also posted the Spring/Summer practice times.  Spring/Summer practices will begin on Wednesday, May 8.

·         Parent Group committee meetingshave been moved to the first Mondays of the Month. Next meeting is Monday April 15, 2013, due to Y Nationals.

·         GBY swim families have the opportunity to participate in a scrip program to help raise monies for your escrow accounts.  A power point presentation is posted on the website (under documents tab) to explain the whole program and to allow you to get involved with the Scrip program.  Thank you to the GBY Gymnastics Team for allowing us to join in with their program.

·         We have scheduled our annual awards banquet for Friday, May 10, at the Riverside Ballroom.  Please get this on your calendars right away.  We will do a sign-up for this on the website.

·         Our graduating High School Seniors are also in need of pictures for their presentations at the Award Banquet.  Please put all pictures on a disc or flash drive and drop off to Coach Dave. I am storing pictures for them on our computer.  Any pictures are welcome and we encourage parents to take pictures at meets for the graduating Seniors.  Thank you!
