1)      12&under USA State Meet – Nine GBY swimmers will compete in the 12&under USA State meet at the Schroeder Aquatic Center, Brown Deer, WI, this Friday-Sunday, July 26-28.  https://www.teamunify.com/TabGeneric.jsp?_tabid_=83092&team=wsswat  is the website for the swim meet.  The psyche sheet is already posted.  Warm-up assignments have not been posted yet.  Please check back to the website for all of our warm-up assignments.  Please arrive early to all warm-ups.  I will be at this meet all weekend.  Remember that 11-12 swim Friday, Saturday & Sunday afternoons.  10&under swim the Saturday & Sunday morning sessions. 

2)      GBY Summer Team Championship Meet – Next Wednesday afternoon is our end of summer season GBY Team Championship meet.  All current GBY swimmers are encouraged to participate.  All of our Summer Silver Sharks have also been invited to participate.  For GBY team members the entry page is open until Sunday night, July 28.  All of our Silver Sharks have a sign-up form that needs to be returned to Coach Dave by tomorrow, July 25.  Warm-ups are at 3:45pm and meet will start around 4:30pm.  We will need parents to time as well as help out in the office with the timing system and computer.  (See note below about Equipment Committee).  Meet will conclude before 6pm.  This is the last practice/event for the summer season.

3)      13&over USA State Meet – Thirteen GBY swimmers are entered in next Thursday-Sunday, August 1-4, 13&over USA State Meet, at the Schroeder Aquatic Center.  Our final entry list and relays are posted on the website. Please refer to the website for more information about this meet. 

4)      Parent Group Equipment Committee – The Parent Group Equipment takes care of all the computer and timing equipment needed for our swim meets.  Thank you Robert Howe & Amy Wolf for heading up this committee for this summer and the upcoming swim season.  This committee is in need of parents to help out and learn how to set-up and operate this equipment.  Those parents who may have an interest can show up Wednesday afternoon and help at the meet.  The Committee will be there at 3pm to begin the set-up.  Any parents interested in helping and learning should come down to the pool office at the meet. 

5)      Parent Group Committee – The Parent Group Committee will also need to fill a couple empty spots on the committee this fall.  Please contact Coach Dave or Lynn Anderson if interested in joining the committee.  Thank you.

6)      Swimmer’s Camp is cancelled – We did not get enough parents to chaperone for Swimmer’s Camp this summer so we are cancelling it for this summer. 

7)      Escrow Accounts – Thank you to the many families who took care of their escrow balances or add more monies for the remaining meets.  We still have a good number of families that have not taken care of their balances.  Please have this done by the end of July.  Thank you.

9)      Assorted Notes

·        There will only a Friday morning workout this week due to the 12&under State Meet.  And remember that after Wednesday morning next week there are no more practices until year round practices begin August 5.

·        August Practices  - We run workouts after the season concludes from August 5-16. I will post the schedule of these workouts when I confirm coaches to cover the dates.  Due to both the Downtown and Broadview Y being closed for maintenance and cleaning there will be no practices from August 19-Sept 2. Practices for the year round swimmers will then resume on Tuesday, September 3. With Stroke Clinics beginning September 9.

·        Colburn Park Practices– Please make sure that all swimmers are on the pool deck at 6:30am to set-up the pool. 

·        Parent Group committee meetingshave been moved to the first Mondays of the Month. Next meeting is Sept 9, 2013.

·        GBY swim families have the opportunity to participate in a scrip program to help raise monies for your escrow accounts.  A power point presentation is posted on the website (under documents tab) to explain the whole program and to allow you to get involved with the Scrip program.  Thank you to the GBY Gymnastics Team for allowing us to join in with their program.

·        A reminder that all swim team members must scan their membership cards upon entry into our YMCA’s.  If you have lost your card ask the front desk and they can make a new one for you.

·        A reminder that all swim team members should be taking a soap shower before entering any YMCA pool.
