Team Championship Meet Today -  3:45pm set-up and warm-ups.  Meet should start around 4:30pm and conclude by 6:00pm.  We will need parents to help with the timing.  And also parent to help with the timing system and computer.  There is a few mistakes found that we will try to remedy this afternoon.  We will make sure everyone swims the events that they want to.   Also welcome all of our summer Silver Sharks and their parents.  I have about 16 or so Silver Sharks participating today.

1)      13&over USA State Meet – Thirteen GBY swimmers will compete in the 13&over Wisconsin State Championships, this Thursday-Sunday, August 1-4, at the Schroeder Aquatic Center.  I have posted the Psyche sheet, session report and warm-up assignments on the website.  We warm-up at 8:00am on Thursday & Saturday and at 7:30am on Friday & Sunday. Prelims start at 9:00am.  Finals warm-ups are at 4:15pm, and Finals begin at 5:20pm.  Please check all final results to see if you made finals.  I will be at the meet all weekend.  You may go directly to SEA’s website for the Live Results and other information. http://www.sea-y.org/index.php  

2)      August Practices – I Have posted the year round practices for August on the website calendar.  Next week Monday-Wednesday, and the following week all five days we will offer training sessions. These are all from 3:45-5:30pm at the DT Y Pool.  Coach Carissa will cover next Monday-Wednesday, and Coach Bill and I will cover the following week.  Due to DT & BV Pool shut downs there are no practices August 19 – 30.  Practices will resume after Labor Day.  Stroke Clinics begin the week of September 9.  All these are on the website calendar.

3)      Parent Group Equipment Committee – The Parent Group Equipment takes care of all the computer and timing equipment needed for our swim meets.  Thank you Robert Howe & Amy Wolf for heading up this committee for this summer and the upcoming swim season.  This committee is in need of parents to help out and learn how to set-up and operate this equipment.  Those parents who may have an interest can show up Wednesday afternoon and help at the meet.  The Committee will be there at 3pm to begin the set-up.  Any parents interested in helping and learning should come down to the pool office at the meet. 

The Parent Group Committee will also need to fill a couple empty spots on the committee this fall.  Please contact Coach Dave or Lynn Anderson if interested in joining the committee.  Thank you.

4)      Escrow Accounts – Thank you to the many families who have taken care of their escrow balances.  I will post the 13&over charges early next week.  Please take care of all balances before August 16.  Thank you.

5)      Mid-August Newsletter/Swim Team Survey – I will put out a mid-month newsletter highlighting some of the exciting changes for the Fall/Winter Season.  Thank you to the many families who filled out our survey this past Spring.  Many changes or adjustments are being made or have been made based on the feedback received.  I am still looking for more coaches for the Fall season.  Please if you know of anyone that may be a good GBY coach have them contact me.  I have posted Flyers around the Y’s for recruiting new GBY Coaches.

7)      Assorted Notes

·         There are no more workouts this week due to the 13&under State Meet and for most of the team the season being over.  Year round practices begin August 5.

·         Congrats to our 12&under USA State Swimmers for winning the Division II Team State Championships!!

·         Parent Group committee meetings/Annual All Parent Meetinghave been moved to the first Mondays of the Month. Next meeting is Sept 9, 2013 (second Monday due to Labor Day.  We will have our Annual All-Parent Meeting on Tuesday, October 1.  I will announce the location soon.  All current GBY swimmers must have a parent at this meeting.  I will go over many new items related to the team.  Also stay posted to the website as I update the calendar and events schedule.  I should have registration forms out by early September also.

·         GBY swim families have the opportunity to participate in a scrip program to help raise monies for your escrow accounts.  A power point presentation is posted on the website (under documents tab) to explain the whole program and to allow you to get involved with the Scrip program.  Thank you to the GBY Gymnastics Team for allowing us to join in with their program.
