  1. The start of the 2013-2014 begins on Monday.  Please check calendar for practice times.  Both the Silver and Gold practices will begin their 2 week tryout period.  I will notify those swimmers ASAP if they do not qualify for the practice group they are trying out for.  Swimmer’s ability will be a major factor but also the group sizes.  I will try to stay with about 40-45 swimmers in the Gold and Silver practice groups.  There is no Gold III yet.  Those Silver swimmers will be invited to that group at a later date or possibly some of those swimmers trying the Gold practice group may be placed in Gold III.  Swimmers should try to attend all practices during the first 2 weeks if possible.  I have some test sets for each practice group that I need swimmers to do to help with group placement and also lane placement inside their practice group.  For all Bronze swimmers, your practices begin Wednesday & Thursday and both run from 6:30-7:30pm at the DT Y.

 

Once a swimmer is placed in a practice group which could be determined as soon as the first day of practice or inside the first week or by the end of the 2nd week families are welcome to turn in their registration forms.  I will announce to kids at practices if they have made the group they are practicing in.  All the forms must be turned in together to Coach Dave or dropped off at the DT Y front desk for Coach Dave.  Incomplete registration forms will be returned.  All forms needed to register are under the documents tab on the website.  All forms can and should be typed in directly and then printed.  Please make sure that all forms that need to be signed are signed.  Remember to look over the concussion information with your swimmers before signing.  The final day to turn in registration forms is Thursday, October 31, 2013.

  1. The Parent Group Sub-committees have been slight restructured.  A parent from each family should sign-up for a sub-committee.  The Parent Group member overseeing this sub-committee will contact you sometime in the near future. Early November by the latest.  The sub-committees are as follows  1) Meet Equipment Committee  2)  Meet Committee  3)  Meet  Food Service Committee  4)  Social/New Parent Committee  5)  Financial/Fundraising Committee  6)  Marketing Committee  7)  Recognition/Awards Banquet Committee  8)  Senior/National Team Committee.  We are still in need of three parent to join the Parent Group Committee.  Please contact me if interested.  A parent is needed to oversee the Food Service Committee,  Marketing Committee, and Senior/National Team Committee.  I will put the sub-committee sign-up on the website early next week. 
  2. The Marinette Pentathlon entry closes Sunday Night, October 13.  Please get entered by the deadline. Both the FCY Fall Invite entry and the WGLO meet entries close in the next few weeks also.  Make sure that you get entered by the deadline.
  3. The sign-up for the Turkey Trot water station is opened.  Time for this should be from about 7-9am.  I need names and t-shirt sizes for the sign-up.  This is on the events list.  All swimmers and their parents and other family members are welcome to help out.  Thanks for helping with this event.
  4. Assorted Notes

·         The practice schedule should be up to date on the website.  The first day of practices is October 14. There are no practices after tonight’s workout until Monday.

·         GBY Apparel order forms are on the website under the document tab/Odds & Ends. This form with payment is due to Coach Dave by Thursday, October 31.

·         The Next Parent Group Committee is Monday night, November 11, 2013.  All Parent Group Committees are held from 5:30-7:00pm, in the 2nd floor lobby area of the DT Y.

·         Please remember to scan your membership cards when entering any YMCA

·         Please remember to take a soap shower before entering any YMCA pool

·         Meet entries are already opened.  Please make sure that you get entered into meets by the deadline.

·         Please ensure that you keep ample monies in your escrow accounts.  A swimmer will not be entered in a meet unless they have the monies in their escrow account to cover the meet fees. All escrow fees may be paid at the DT Y front desk, or by calling the DT Y front desk to pay by phone.
