1)      Parent Sub-committee sign-up– As of the parent group meeting this past Monday night we only have 28 families who have signed up for sub-committees.  We are in need of many more parents to get involved.  We have many openings on the meet committee, food committee and Awards committee.  We currently only have 7 of 9 positions filled on the parent group committee.  So are still trying to fill those two positions also.  I have extended the deadline to sign-up for the parent sub-committees until Sunday, November 24. After that date you will be assigned to a committee where needed.  Again we need lots of parents for the meet committee and only have a couple signed up for now.  Thank you to Jill Zablocki for joining the parent group committee as our meet director.  And thank you to the Annjie and Mark Nowak for taking over the leadership of our Food Service.  We still need two more parents to join the parent group committee.  Contact myself or a committee member if interested.  I will list the parent group committee below in the assorted notes.

2)      All registration forms were due last Thursday, October 31.  Thank you to all families who have turned in their registration forms.  All new families should have received an e-mail invite to gain your access to the website.  Please contact me by e-mail if you have not received this invite.  Please check all the information that I entered to make sure that it is correct.  You may add as many e-mail addresses as you like to receive all correspondence sent from the website. If you have not turned in your registration forms please do so ASAP.  Contact Coach Dave if there are any questions.  All registration forms are on the website.  I will be deactivating families from the website that are not registered for the 2013-2014.  Hopefully soon we will have a team roster put together.

3)      The sign-up for the Turkey Trot water station is closing Wednesday, November 20.  Turkey Trot water station is on Thanksgiving morning. Time for this should be from about 7-9am.  I need names and t-shirt sizes for the sign-up.  This is on the events list.  All swimmers and their parents and other family members are welcome to help out.  Thanks for helping with this event.

4)      Personalized swim caps -  I have put a sign-up for GBY personalized silicon swim caps on the website.  Order deadline is Sunday, December 1.  We must order a minimum of 48 caps. With a minimum of 2 caps per name.  Last name only.  Please order right away. Check out the website for more information.

5)      I have opened up a page for 2014 USA registration –Those swimmers registered in 2013 will automatically be registered for 2014 unless you tell me different.  Those swimmers wishing to register for USA Swimming for the first time will need to make that commitment on the webpage.  Cost of USA registration is $59.00.

7)      Assorted Notes

·        There will be both a Friday afternoon Gold workout and a Saturday AM Gold II workout this week, November 15 & 16.  Coach Miranda will run the Friday and Coach Sean the Saturday AM. Coach Dave is attending a wedding in Milwaukee. Next week due to both the OSHY Champion Meet and the WGLO week there will not be any Friday or Saturday AM workouts (November 22 & 23). And no practices Thursday-Saturday, November 28-30, due to Thanksgiving.

·        Make sure you are checking deadline dates for meet entries and other team events.– Please check the website as often as possible to keep up with meet entry deadlines and deadlines for other team events.

·        The GBY Sprint Meet entry page and job sign-up are opened up.  I will open up the Mock Meet entry page very soon.  For the Mock Meet all families will work in the job that they sign up for in the Sprint Meet.

·        2^nd New Parent Information meeting will be Tuesday,  November 26, from 5-6pm, in the SWHS Balcony. We will talk about meet entries, home meet responsibilities, and escrow.

·        The Next Parent Group Committee is Monday night, November 11, 2013.  All Parent Group Committees are held from 5:30-7:00pm, in the 2^nd floor lobby area of the DT Y.  Parent Group committee members are Lynn Anderson – Facilitator, Jill Zablocki – Meet Director, Annjie and Mark Nowak – Food Service, Equipment – Bob Howe & Amy Wolf – Equipment, Tim Van Gheem – Financial, Heidi Neverman – Awards Banquet & Recognition, Scott & Heidi Socha – Social & New Family,  Open -  Marketing, Open – Senior/National Team.

·        Please remember to scan your membership cards when entering any YMCA

·        Please remember to take a soap shower before entering any YMCA pool.

·        Please remember that the GBY swim team is a part of the GBY Gymnastics Scrip program.  If any family is interested in earning some extra money for their escrow accounts should check out the Scrip program.  Scrip information is under the documents tab on the web site.

·        Many meet entries are already opened.  Please make sure that you get entered into meets by the deadline.

·        Please ensure that you keep ample monies in your escrow accounts.  A swimmer will not be allowed to enter in a meet unless they have the monies in their escrow account to cover the meet fees. The website is set up to make sure that you have monies in your account when you enter a meet.  All escrow fees may be paid at the DT Y front desk, or by calling the DT Y front desk to pay by phone. Thank you to everyone for keeping up with your escrow accounts. Please do not wait until it is too late to get money into your account.  All information for your escrow account may be found under your account page on the website.
