1)      OSHY Champion Meet – Thirty Nine GBY swimmers are entered in the Oshkosh Y Champion meet this Friday-Sunday, November 22-24, at the Oshkosh Y.  I have not gotten anything from Oshkosh regarding the meet.  So please check their website for the most up to date information.  Friday warm-ups are from 4:30-5:25pm.  Saturday & Sunday AM warm-ups are from 7:00-7:55am.  Saturday & Sunday PM warm-ups will not start before 11:00am.  Again when I get more accurate information I will post it on the website.  Coach Kari will attend the meet on Friday night. Coach Bill and Coach Ashley on Saturday, and Coach Bill on Sunday.

2)      WGLO Meet – Sixteen GBY swimmers are entered in the WGLO meet this Friday-Sunday, November 22-24, at the Schroeder Aquatic Center.  This is a prelim/Final meet.  Please read over the meet information carefully.  I have already posted on our website the warm-up assignments.  The Psych sheet is also posted there.  We have a 3:05-3:30pm warm-up on Friday, and a 7:40-8:05am warm-up time on Saturday AM.  Saturday Finals warm-ups are at 4:00pm, and Sunday finals warm-ups are at 9:00am.  Please arrive early for all warm-up sessions.  I will be at this meet all weekend.

3)      2^nd New Parent Informational Meeting – We will have our 2^nd New Parent Informational meeting next Tuesday, November 26, from 5-6pm in the balcony of SWHS Pool.  This meeting will cover entering swim meets, and family responsibilities for home meets.  Please take a look at both the webpage for our GBY Sprint Meet and Mock meet on the website.  Also look at the job sign-up for the GBY Sprint Meet.  We will talk about all of these.  All December Meets deadlines are after this meeting.  We will see all of our new parents on Tuesday.

4)      Bronze Team Notes – I am sure that you have all noticed but we have a very large Bronze team this season.  We have 44 swimmers registered for that practice group.  We are still working on placing all the kids in the right lanes for practices.  We do know that with most of the group showing up for a practice that it will be crowded.  Thanks to the kids for their help with this situation.  We will continue to evaluate the Bronze swimmers to see if any are ready to give the Silver Practice group a try.

6)      Assorted Notes

·         There will be No Friday afternoon or Saturday practices this week due to the OSHY and WGLO meets.  There will be no practices next Thursday-Saturday, November 28-30, due to Thanksgiving. All practices Monday-Wednesday will take place next week.

·         Tonight is the deadline to sign-up for the Turkey Trot water station.  All volunteers should be at Calvary Lutheran Church at 7:00am.  All shirts will be distributed at the site.  I would recommend you wear some warm clothes and throw your shirt on over those.  Check the website for more information.  Thank you to all of our volunteers.

·         Personalized swim caps –The sign-up to order personalized swim caps is open on the website.  We must have a minimum of 48 caps ordered.  And a minimum of 2 caps per name.  So far we have 24 caps ordered.  Deadline for ordering is Sunday night, December 1. 

·         Please remember to get signed up for a parent sub-committee.  This will close Sunday night.  After Sunday night those families not signed up will be assigned where needed.

·         Welcome to Jill Zablocki (meet committee) and the Jeff & Beth Gahnz (marketing committee) to the parent group committee.  We still need one more parent to have a full committee.

·         Make sure you are checking deadline dates for meet entries and other team events.– Please check the website as often as possible to keep up with meet entry deadlines and deadlines for other team events.

·         The GBY Sprint Meet entry page and job sign-up are opened up.  I will open up the Mock Meet entry page very soon.  For the Mock Meet all families will work in the job that they sign up for in the Sprint Meet.

·         The Next Parent Group Committee is Monday night, December 2.  All Parent Group Committees are held from 5:30-7:00pm, in the 2^nd floor lobby area of the DT Y.  Parent Group committee members are Lynn Anderson – Facilitator, Jill Zablocki – Meet Director, Annjie and Mark Nowak – Food Service, Bob Howe & Amy Wolf – Equipment, Tim Van Gheem – Financial, Heidi Neverman – Awards Banquet & Recognition, Scott & Heidi Socha – Social & New Family,  Jeff & Beth Gahnz -  Marketing, Open – Senior/National Team.

·         Please remember to scan your membership cards when entering any YMCA

·         Please remember to take a soap shower before entering any YMCA pool.

·         Please remember that the GBY swim team is a part of the GBY Gymnastics Scrip program.  If any family is interested in earning some extra money for their escrow accounts should check out the Scrip program.  Scrip information is under the documents tab on the web site.

·         Many meet entries are already opened.  Please make sure that you get entered into meets by the deadline.

·         Please ensure that you keep ample monies in your escrow accounts.  A swimmer will not be allowed to enter in a meet unless they have the monies in their escrow account to cover the meet fees. The website is set up to make sure that you have monies in your account when you enter a meet.  All escrow fees may be paid at the DT Y front desk, or by calling the DT Y front desk to pay by phone. Thank you to everyone for keeping up with your escrow accounts. Please do not wait until it is too late to get money into your account.  All information for your escrow account may be found under your account page on the website.
