1)      Tonight is our GBY Mock Meet – All swimmers will meet with the assistant coaches at 6:30pm on the pool deck.  All GBY Parents will meet above the pool in the hallway at 6:30pm.  New parents will get a quick tour of the building.  After the tour all parents should meet with the meet director to talk about their work assignments for the Sprint Meet.  Some workers such as timers and computer/timing system people will have to work the Mock Meet. 

2)      GBY Sprint Meet - The meet is completed.  For all information go to GBY Hosted Meets tab and Sprint Meet.  You will find everything you need there.  I will attach the heat sheets, entry list and warm-up assignments to this the website page for our meet.

All AM swimmers and parents should be at the DT Y pool no later than 6:30am.  The swimmers and parents will need to set up the Pool area to include lane ropes, meet backstroke flags, Starting blocks, chairs for timers, tables and chairs for coaches.  We also will lay rugs from the pool office to the back stairs and from the back stairs to the pool balcony.  There will also be some set-up outside the pool to include the food stand. clerk of course, and rugs from the back stairs into the main rest area (large gym).

Our team rest area will be LLA (Y Zone room) at the bottom of the stairs.  I would please ask that this room be kept clean at all times.  Please dispose of all waste and trash in the proper place. (Garbage cans).

All PM swimmers should arrive at the Pool by 11:30am.  If the meet ends prior to 12:30pm we will begin our warm-up early.  All PM swimmers and parents will need to help tear-down after the meet concludes Saturday evening.  All Gold Team swimmers are responsible to clean the pool area, pool balcony, locker rooms, LLA (Team rest area) and the Large Gym.  All PM parents can help with the tearing down.  To include putting away all the tables and chairs, putting away the rugs and to help tear down the other areas that we utilize.

Job sign-ups are still open for signing up.   Please read over the material posted on the website regarding worker the Sprint Meet.

3)      We are hosting a Level 1 Officials training next Friday, 5-9pm in room 1D of the DT Y.  Sign-up information is on the website.  Contact Coach Dave if you plan to take this training.  We only have three parents from our team so far scheduled to attend.  We need more!!

4)      GBY apparel will be handed out at today’s Mock Meet.  Please make sure you pick up your items.

5)      I extended the sign-up for Parent Sub-committees until December 8 -  After December 8 those who did not sign-up will be put where needed.  You should be contacted my your Parent Committee leader soon.

6)      Personalized cap deadline was Sunday night, December 1.  But we only have 40 caps ordered and  need 48 caps.  I have extended this until we get enough caps ordered.

7)      GBY Bowling Night, Monday, December 30, 2013, 6-8pm.  The Gutter Bowling Alley, 2310 Lineville Road, in Howard.  Cost will be $9.00 per person.  This $9.00 includes shoe rental and unlimited bowling between 6-8pm.  Because of new management at the Bowling Alley, there will be no food or drink included in our package.  But food and drink are available at the Bowling Alley.  Sign-up is on the website.  All GBY swimmers and families are invited to participate.  Sign-up deadline is Sunday night, December 22.  This will be charge to your escrow account.

9)      Assorted Notes

·        There will be a Friday afternoon this week.  Will make announcement about next Friday practice soon.  The team is participating in the Schroeder Y Finalist next Friday afternoon, Saturday & Sunday.

·        Make sure you are checking deadline dates for meet entries and other team events.– Please check the website as often as possible to keep up with meet entry deadlines and deadlines for other team events. Personalized caps can still be ordered. Parents can still sign-up for Sub-committees.

·        The Next Parent Group Committee is Monday night, January 6.  All Parent Group Committees are held from 5:30-7:00pm, in the 2^nd floor lobby area of the DT Y.  Parent Group committee members are Lynn Anderson – Facilitator, Jill Zablocki – Meet Director, Annjie and Mark Nowak – Food Service, Bob Howe & Amy Wolf – Equipment, Tim Van Gheem – Financial, Heidi Neverman – Awards Banquet & Recognition, Scott & Heidi Socha – Social & New Family,  Jeff & Beth Gahnz -  Marketing, Open – Senior/National Team.

·        Please remember to scan your membership cards when entering any YMCA

·        Please remember to take a soap shower before entering any YMCA pool.

·        Please remember that the GBY swim team is a part of the GBY Gymnastics Scrip program.  If any family is interested in earning some extra money for their escrow accounts should check out the Scrip program.  Scrip information is under the documents tab on the web site.

·        Many meet entries are already opened.  Please make sure that you get entered into meets by the deadline.

·        Please ensure that you keep ample monies in your escrow accounts.  A swimmer will not be allowed to enter in a meet unless they have the monies in their escrow account to cover the meet fees. The website is set up to make sure that you have monies in your account when you enter a meet.  All escrow fees may be paid at the DT Y front desk, or by calling the DT Y front desk to pay by phone. Thank you to everyone for keeping up with your escrow accounts. Please do not wait until it is too late to get money into your account.  All information for your escrow account may be found under your account page on the website.
