  1. 12&under USA State Meet – Fifteen GBY swimmers will participate in the 12&under USA State meet at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Natatorium. I would ask you to go right to the Badger Aquatic Club website for all information including warm-up assignments, timeline, psych sheet & live results.  Please arrive early to all warm-up sessions. I will be at the meet all weekend.
  2. Remaining Meets  – Deadline for entry into the FCY Everyone Counts Meet is this Sunday Night. The entry page is not open yet for the Oshkosh Y Last Chance Meet. But as soon as I receive that info I will e-mail out when the entry page is open.  The Y State entry page closes Sunday Night, March 16.  You have all the remaining meets to make qualifying times for individual or to make a Y State Relay. Remember for Y State that is you are only in a relay or want to be considered for relays that you must commit to swim the meet on the entry page.  I will update the Y State Relays and Y Eligibility list and post it soon.
  3. Swim-A-long and Calling Night reminders – Swimmers may continue to turn in Swim-A-Long monies to Coach Dave or the DT Y front desk.  Thank you all for your hard work.  The Top 6 fundraisers are Annah Van Gheem, Abigail Micksch, Sophia Azzolina, Dominick Azzolina, John Gahnz & Violet Anderson. Congrats to these 6 swimmers.  I will get the color choices to you for your Speedo Backpacks.

Calling Night Team –When you are completed turn all your pledge cards back into Coach Dave in the pledge envelope.  Please try to wrap this up as soon as possible. Thank you to our calling team for their help with these phone calls

  1. Downtown Y Swim Lessons -  A note from the Downtown Y Aquatic director. The DT Y does offer regular swimming lessons after Monday practice and before Wednesday practices. 2. End of season – We are getting close to the end of our Fall/Winter Season. 1. Assorted Notes
  • There will be a Friday AM, Friday afternoon and Saturday AM workout this week.  Coach Bill will run Friday afternoon and Saturday AM. This Friday will be the last of the Wednesday & Friday AM practices.  There will be a Saturday AM workout on March 15 & March 29.
  • Y State T-shirts – Remember when entering or committing to swim the Y State Meet to include a t-shirt size.  All swimmers participating in the Y State meet receive a shirt compliments of the Parent Group Committee.
  • Team Pictures – I have posted the team picture on the website.  Remember that all swim team members will receive an 8x10 at the Awards Banquet.
  • Y Nationals (April 1-4, Greensboro, NC) –   I have opened up the entry page for the Y National Meet and the Time Trials there.  We have two swimmers qualified so far.  Both swimmers have committed to attend the meet so I will purchase my plane ticket and make lodging arrangements.  I will plan to arrive on Sunday, March 30, with a workout that evening.  We will use Monday for workouts and team registration.  The meet runs Tuesday-Friday.  Families attending should make their own arrangements for getting to and from the meet and hotel arrangements.
  • Upcoming Meets –Both the FCY Everyone Counts Meet and the Y State Meet entries are opened on the website.  I am waiting on the info from Oshkosh regarding the Last Chance meet.
  • The Next Parent Group Committee is Monday night, March 3, 2014.  All Parent Group Committees are held from 5:30-7:00pm, in the 2nd floor lobby area of the DT Y.  Parent Group committee members are Lynn Anderson – Facilitator, Jill Zablocki – Meet Director, Annjie and Mark Nowak – Food Service, Bob Howe & Amy Wolf – Equipment, Tim Van Gheem – Financial, Heidi Neverman – Awards Banquet & Recognition, Scott & Heidi Socha – Social & New Family,  Jeff & Beth Gahnz -  Marketing, Pat Stoa – Senior/National Team.
  • Weather Updates/E-mail Alerts, etc – Thank you for everyone’s patience with the weather situation.  Just a reminder on a few items related to weather and cancellations.  First of all the Y’s rarely ever close for weather.  Thus all Y programs including swim team will always run if the Y’s remain open.  If the Y’s do close I will alert the team by e-mail.  The other situation we deal with is the SWHS & the Green Bay Public Schools.  Like Tuesday when school was closed all after school programs get cancelled including pool rentals.  I will notify the team ASAP with any cancellations.
  • Please remember to scan your membership cards when entering any YMCA
  • Please remember to take a soap shower before entering any YMCA pool.
  • Please remember that the GBY swim team is a part of the GBY Gymnastics Scrip program.  If any family is interested in earning some extra money for their escrow accounts should check out the Scrip program.  Scrip information is under the documents tab on the web site.
  • Please ensure that you keep ample monies in your escrow accounts.  A swimmer will not be allowed to enter in a meet unless they have the monies in their escrow account to cover the meet fees. The website is set up to make sure that you have monies in your account when you enter a meet.  All escrow fees may be paid at the DT Y front desk, or by calling the DT Y front desk to pay by phone. Thank you to everyone for keeping up with your escrow accounts. Please do not wait until it is too late to get money into your account.  All information for your escrow account may be found under your account page on the website. And please keep ample monies in your escrow account to cover all upcoming charges.  All meet entry fee charges are done on the Monday following the meet.   If by chance you cannot enter a meet because of your escrow account. E-mail Coach Dave with your swimmer’s entry numbers by the entry deadline date and I will get them into the meet.
