This is the last week of practices unless you are participating in the Y State Meet.  Please read over newsletter carefully.  The practice, stroke clinics, and summer meet schedule through July are now posted on the website.

1. OSHY Last Chance Meet – Forty Nine GBY Swimmers are entered in the OSHY Last Chance Meet, this Sunday, March 16.  I have not gotten the official warm-up times yet but will post them on the website when I receive them.  This meet you will also print your own heat sheets. I will post those when I receive them also.  I will be at the meet all day and Coach Kari will be there for the main session.  This is your last chance to qualify for the Y State Meet.
2. Y State/Y State Practice Schedule – The entry page closes Sunday night, March 16 for the Y State Meet.  Remember that the Age Up date for Y State is Dec 1, 2013.  I do have a number of swimmers who are on relays that are not going to attend the Y State meet or miss days of the meet.  I will need additional GBY swimmers to fill these relay spots.  Please if you are available to attend the meet commit to the meet on the website.  Then you will be considered for the relays if needed. I will post the Y State entry and relays sometime on Monday afternoon. All information for the meet will appear here.  Next week’s practices on our calendar.  Bronze and Silver will swim together next week.  Their workouts are 1:15 long.  Coaches may let the Bronze swimmers out a little early if necessary.  The Gold team has their normal practice schedule next week. But there is no dryland for any group.  All Y State swimmers should try to attend all practices next week. No practices next Friday. Remember to include your t-shirt size on your entry page.  All GBY swimmers participating in the Y State meet will receive a shirt compliments of the Parent Committee.
3. Stroke Clinics/Year Round workouts -  After next week our Fall/Winter season is concluded. Check the calendar for Y National and Year Round swimmer workouts.  Year Round Swimmers registered and paid to participate in Year Round Workout outside the seasons and on Tuesdays in May.   Additional Gold swimmers may attend these workouts but will be charged $5.00 for each workout they attend.  Stroke Clinics for all GBY Swimmers begin Wednesday, April 9.  Check the calendar for the days, times and the subject for the day.  Again some Silver and Gold swimmers may have registered and paid for Stroke Clinics with their Fall registration.   Otherwise the cost for Stroke Clinics are $5.00 each.  I will charge all families in early May for the Stroke Clinics or year round workouts they attend.  Note that on Monday and Thursday I run two different clinics.  The afternoon clinics are for our Bronze and Silver Swimmers. The evening clinics are for Gold swimmers or approved Silver Swimmers.  The Wednesday night clinics are open to the entire team.  There are no sign-ups for these clinics. Attendance will be taken each day.  Stroke Clinics run until Wednesday, April 30.  The official start of Spring/Summer practices is Wednesday, May 7.  All GBY swimmers who registered in the Fall are registered for the Spring/Summer season too.  Both the Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer seasons are including in your registration. I have posted the practice  and meet schedules through July on the website.
4. GBY Awards Banquet – I have opened the sign-up for the banquet on the website.  Banquet is Friday evening, April 11, at the Riverside Ballroom.  All GBY swimmers are recognized at the banquet.  Please look at the website for more information.

1. Assorted Notes

• There will be a Friday afternoon and Saturday AM workout this week.  
• Y State T-shirts – In the notes page of the Y State Entry I will ask everyone for their t-shirt size.   I have just opened the entry page for the Y State Meet.  You have until the Oshkosh Last Chance Meet on March 16 to make Y State Qualifying times.  I have posted the qualified Y State Relays and an eligibility list of those qualified.  Relays will most likely have some changes but if you are on a relay and will attend please make sure you commit to attend the meet.
• Team Pictures – I have posted the team picture on the website.  I will send out the files for these pictures.  You may do whatever you like.  Remember that all swim team members will receive an 8x10 at the Awards Banquet.
• Y Nationals (April 1-4, Greensboro, NC) –   I have opened up the entry page for the Y National Meet and the Time Trials there.  We have two swimmers qualified so far.  I will plan to arrive on Sunday, March 30, with a workout that evening.  We will use Monday for workouts and team registration.  The meet runs Tuesday-Friday.  Families attending should make their own arrangements for getting to and from the meet and hotel arrangements.
• The Next Parent Group Committee is Monday night, May 5, 2014.  The will use Monday, April 7, as preparation night for the awards banquet.  All Parent Group Committees are held from 5:30-7:00pm, in the 2^nd floor lobby area of the DT Y.  Parent Group committee members are Lynn Anderson – Facilitator, Jill Zablocki – Meet Director, Annjie and Mark Nowak – Food Service, Bob Howe & Amy Wolf – Equipment, Tim Van Gheem – Financial, Heidi Neverman – Awards Banquet & Recognition, Scott & Heidi Socha – Social & New Family,  Jeff & Beth Gahnz -  Marketing, Pat Stoa – Senior/National Team.
• Weather Updates/E-mail Alerts,etc – Thank you for everyone’s patience with the weather situation.  Just a reminder on a few items related to weather and cancellations.  First of all the Y’s rarely ever close for weather.  Thus all Y programs including swim team will always run if the Y’s remain open.  If the Y’s do close I will alert the team by e-mail.  The other situation we deal with is the SWHS & the Green Bay Public Schools.  Like Tuesday when school was closed all after school programs get cancelled including pool rentals.  I will notify the team ASAP with any cancellations.
• Please remember to scan your membership cards when entering any YMCA
• Please remember to take a soap shower before entering any YMCA pool.
• Please remember that the GBY swim team is a part of the GBY Gymnastics Scrip program.  If any family is interested in earning some extra money for their escrow accounts should check out the Scrip program.  Scrip information is under the documents tab on the web site.
• Please ensure that you keep ample monies in your escrow accounts.  A swimmer will not be allowed to enter in a meet unless they have the monies in their escrow account to cover the meet fees. The website is set up to make sure that you have monies in your account when you enter a meet.  All escrow fees may be paid at the DT Y front desk, or by calling the DT Y front desk to pay by phone. Thank you to everyone for keeping up with your escrow accounts. Please do not wait until it is too late to get money into your account.  All information for your escrow account may be found under your account page on the website. And please keep ample monies in your escrow account to cover all upcoming charges.  All meet entry fee charges are done on the Monday following the meet.   If by chance you cannot enter a meet because of your escrow account. E-mail Coach Dave with your swimmer’s entry numbers by the entry deadline date and I will get them into the meet.
