The coach's are finishing up discussion of swimmers and which swimmers will be transitioning into new groups. We will be finished this week and I will send a list out with next weeks news letter. Sign ups for swim team begin Monday August 16th, 2021. A quick update on there current status of our groups. I know pre covid there was only 1 bronze and 1 silver team and gold was the only group that was split. I took advantage of having multiple silver groups and created two different groups of swimmers. These different levels of swimmers will be focusing on different things based on what is most appropriate for the group. So now we offer the following:

Pre-team: a group that is learning a basic foundation of the four competitive strokes

Bronze: the first level of swim team that takes the basic foundation of the four strokes and starts building upon that. Learning more proper form, adding other important foundation skills like streamlines, underwater work, turns, dives, and building correct form and endurance for the 4 strokes. Mostly working on technique.

Silver 2: the first advancement past bronze group. This level is for swimmers who are more advance in technique than bronze level but still need work. Silver 2 also adds more aerobic endurance sets and some sprint sets. Still developing a stronger grasp on the four strokes but also building up strength and endurance to swim the four strokes for 100 yards plus in races. Still works a lot on technique but also balances it with aerobic endurance training.

Silver 1: This group of swimmers are starting to get a pretty strong understanding of the the four strokes. Silver one continues to build upon the foundation of the four strokes but starts to focus more on endurance, speed, strength. Starts becoming more competitive and has the focus of learning how to race their strokes. Swimming at sprint speed is mostly effective when the form of the stroke is correct.

Gold 2: Gold is our most competitive group. Swimmers should plan on attending 90% of practices and most swim meets. Swimmers are expected to attend meets that have qualification requirements should they meet them. Gold 2 takes swimmers and really focuses on building strength, speed, endurance and race training. Sets are much faster in this group. Swimmers in the group will have a strong grasp on the four strokes and will still do some technique but focuses much more on the other aspects of training.

Gold 1:  Gold 1 group is for those swimmers who really want to dedicate to the sport. Those training for nationals, zones, sectionals and other upper level meets. Practice is expected, strong work ethic and dedication is required.
