Elsmore swim shop will be doing a swim suit sizing for our team on Tuesday September 7^th from 5:30-6:30pm. All swimmers are invited to come. What is a suit sizing? Elsmore swim shop will be sending a representative to help get your child in the correct competitive swim suit size. Our team suits this year are speedo brand, Navy Blue and will have the GBY logo on them. The girls will have a choice between a few different back strap styles and boys can choose between a jammer and a brief style swim suit. We will need one or two parent volunteers to help the sizing go smoothly and quickly. Please let me know if you are willing to help! Elsmore will also have some things with them for purchase. Some practice caps, practice suits, swim equipment, etc…

Meet Info

Final meet schedule should be finalized by the start of the swim season. A meet or two may be added later but for the most post our schedule should be finalized. I have a meeting with the YMCA league this Friday. I’m still looking to host a few meets this short course season. Those are as follows

October: YMCA Virtual swim meet
December: GBY Sprint Meet
January: Titletown Freeze
February: Love 2 Swim Meet

Reminder that all GBY swimmers are encouraged to attend all home meets. Home meets only happen and are successful with Parent help. All GBY parents are required to work the home swim meets. We have a wide range of jobs at home meets. There will be an all parent meeting in October that will welcome new families, go over parent committee openings, and swim meet responsibilities. That date will be set after the Parent Committee meeting in September.

Swim meet attire. I would like all swimmers to wear a GBY swim team cap (can be a team cap, state cap, or national cap) Custom team caps with swimmers last names will be available for purchase in September. We have to meet a minimum to be able to purchase them. They come in a pack of 2 caps. Look out for that sign up on our team website. Aside from the team cap I would like swimmers to wear our team suit, team suit sizing is September 7^th 5:30-6:30pm at the downtown YMCA. The exception will be championship meets where swimmers can wear tech suits.

Practice Info

Practice starts THIS COMING MONDAY!!! August 30, 2021 for Silver and Gold groups, Bronze starts Tuesday August 31, 2021. I am very excited to get back in the water. I think GBY is going to do exceptionally well this season! Some of our main goals will to be focus on the Team, and teamship, focus on the process of improvement, and mastering technique. Technique of the strokes, mastering technique of turns, starts, and underwaters! Im excited and cant wait to start. Remember registrations are open now and you must register prior to practice. High school swimmers can still sign up now but remember that girls need to uncheck the draft for the months of September and October and boys need to uncheck the draft for months December and January. Practice times and in the calendar on our team website. If you missed the email with the list of names of which group to sign up for please reach out to me and I can send that to you!
