Announcements

The 2021-2022 Swim season is off to a great start! It was nice to see everyone back in the pool again and nice to see some new faces! Some quick announcements about the YMCA and the swim team. The YMCA is looking to hire some day time lifeguards so if you know anyone please have them email me at [email protected] . I am also looking to hire a new assistant swim coach so if you know anyone who would be a good candidate please have them reach out to me. Speaking of assistant coaches I am looking to start a GBY swim team leadership program where I will hire and train one to two Junior or Seniors from Gold to help coach the other groups. I think it’s a great opportunity to help develop leadership among our GBY swimmers and to give them a chance to be great role models for the younger swimmers. Be on the lookout for more information on that soon.

A reminder that on September 7^th from 5:00-6:30pm we have Kelly from the Elsmore swim shop coming to our pool to help with swim suit sizing. All swimmers are invited to come to the suit sizing. We will need a parent volunteer to help keep the process smooth and running quickly. All GBY swimmers are required to get a GBY swim team suit. Our suits this year are speedo brand, navy blue with the GBY logo on them. GBY suits are required for swim meets along with a GBY swim cap. We will be opening an order for Custom GBY caps in September that will have your swimmers last name on the cap. There will be some swim meets where senior swimmers can wear their tech suits instead of the GBY suits. Those meets will be announced to the swimmers and in a coach’s clipboard later.

Meet Info

Here is our current meet schedule. We are still waiting on YMCA to announce when Y-State’s is. I have a meeting Friday with our Y swim league where I think State meet will be discussed. Our current schedule:

As meet info becomes available I will turn on the sign up option for the swim meets. Remember you must be logged on to sign up for a swim meet and have a balance less than 0 to sign up. For the new parents and as a refresher for items like extra swim caps, swim meet fees, etc… we use an escrow system. You can check your escrow account on team unify website. If you have money in your escrow account it will show up as a negative number. Example if I added 100 dollars to my escrow account and I checked my balance on team unify it would show that I had -100 in my account. If you check your account and it’s a positive number that means you owe money. To add money to your escrow account you can call the front desk or email me with how much you want to add and the last 4 digits of the card or bank account on file with the YMCA do you want to charge.

If you have any questions about escrow or swim meets please reach out to me. We will be having a new parents meeting in October and that will get set after the Parent committee meets on September 13.

Practice Info

I will be having swim practice Monday September 6^th. The YMCA will be closed so swimmers need to arrive 10 mins before practice starts to be let in. There will not be anyone at the front desk to let swimmers in if they are late. Please notify your swimmers that they are not to let anyone in as they are leaving. The YMCA is closed.
