Reminder that all GBY swimmers are encouraged to attend all home meets. Home meets only happen and are successful with Parent help. All GBY parents are required to work the home swim meets. We have a wide range of jobs at home meets. There will be an all parent meeting October 4th that will welcome new families, go over parent committee openings, and swim meet responsibilities. That date will be set after the Parent Committee meeting in September.
Swim meet attire. I would like all swimmers to wear a GBY swim team cap (can be a team cap, state cap, or national cap) Custom team caps with swimmers last names. Aside from the team cap I would like swimmers to wear our team suit, the exception will be championship meets where swimmers can wear tech suits.
Practice Info
Please if you haven’t got your swimmers Consent form turn in, please do so ASAP. The Interns from GBU will be working with us 3 days a week all season and it is a wonderful opportunity. They will be doing observations, group presentations, and 1:1s working with the mental aspects of sport training and sport performance. They are both working towards their masters in science of Sport, Exercise and performance psychology. Every elite athlete uses individuals like these two every day and several of the big club teams across the country also hire people in this field to work with their athletes. We have a great opportunity to have these two work with our team all season for free. They can only work with your swimmer if they have their consent form turned in.
There is no practice on days that the YMCA is closed, the night of the All parent meeting, on team bonding events, or days where there are big weekend swim meets. I will do my best to announce all those days in advance so you can mark them on the calendar.
Covid information: As the kids are back in school and some covid cases are popping up I want to make sure every is aware of the YMCA’s current polices.
Masks: The YMCA suggests that anyone who is not vaccinated to please wear a mask when entering the building. For swimmers they should wear a mask until they get into the pool and as soon as they get out of the pool.
Close Contact: If there is a close contact case and your child is asked to be quarantined then the YMCA policy is: If your child is fully vaccinated and has been for at least 12 days before close contact exposure then they are allowed to continue to practice, but symptoms should be monitored over the next several days, it is recommended to get tested 3 to 5 days after exposure and your child must wear a mask for 12 days. If your child is not fully vaccinated or it has been less than 12 days since their final shot then the swimmer must stay quarantined from practice for 10 days after exposure.
Positive Case: Swimmer must be quarantined for 14 days, if a sibling or household member has a positive case swimmer must stay quarantined from practice for their 14 days after their positive test and 10 days after their last day.
