Team News
Hello GBY Families,
As we begin a new week, I would like to take a moment to say “thank you” to all of our swimmers for their continued commitment to excellence.
I am very optimistic and excited about the future of our swim team. I continue to learn more about our swimmers, and the unique talent each of them brings to our team. We have swimmers who are very fast, swimmers who exhibit nearly perfect technique, and swimmers who are also incredibly intelligent.
We have an exceptionally talented group of swimmers.
As we continue to learn and grow, I would like to ask our swimmers and our families to think about what is best for our team. How do we continue to excel not only individually, but excel as a team. We need to work towards adopting a growth mindset.
The concept of growth mindset was developed by Carol Dweck, a psychologist who wrote the book “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success”. A growth mindset describes people who believe that their success depends on time and effort. Those with a growth mindset feel that their skills can be improved with effort and persistence. They embrace change, challenges, learn from criticism, and seek out inspiration in other’s successes. I challenge all of our families to think about how we can collectively improve as a team – switch the I and me, to us and we.
