Are you considering joining Mako Aquatics ? Want to learn more about our program? You have come to the right place. This page will answer some commonly asked questions about joining our program and help you register your swimmer. Before your swimmer can enter the water, we need to make sure of their safety and skill level so they can be placed in a group that will let them learn and thrive. Please follow the directions below on how to join our team!

Our goal is to help nurture athletes to develop confidence, respect, discipline and dedication that will help them be successful in life.  We provide swimmers of all ages and abilities the opportunity to participate in the sport and to provide a lifelong enjoyment of swimming.

3 Steps to Join Mako Aquatics

Step 1: Complete the Swimmer Evaluation/Interest Form

All prospective swimmers who wish to join Mako Aquatics swim team must participate in a new swimmer evaluation by a member of the coaching staff prior to registration. This evaluation process allows our coaching staff to place swimmers in the appropriate practice group based on their age, current skill and long-term development and success.

We offer evaluations specifically before the start of each of our seasons: typically in August for Short Course season that starts in September and typically in March for the Long Course season that starts in March/April. However we also offer evaluations throughout the year for interested swimmers.

Step 2: Review the Evaluation FAQs and Difference between Swim Lessons and a Swim Team to be prepared for the evaluation. After hearing from a member of our coaching staff and confirming a time & date for your evaluation via email, attend your swimmer evaluation with a Mako Aquatics Coach.

Step 3: Receive the Evaluation Results. If your swimmer has been placed into a training group, review the Current Season Registration Information and await the Registration email with directions about the next step. Swimmers must be registered before attending their first practice.

Parents & swimmers will receive evaluation results following their evaluation, you will be given one of three outcomes:

  • your swimmer is ready to join the swim team and will be assigned to a Training Group.
  • your swimmer is ready but will need to be on a waitlist as their assigned Training Group is currently full.
  • your swimmer needs to gain a few more skills and be evaluated again in the future. Information regarding specific skills needed will be shared to take to your swim lesson instructor.

An email with more information and registration details will be sent to those ready to join the team after their evaluation date.

Transfer
If your swimmer is transferring from another local team, we ask that you talk to your former team about the reasons prompting your change before making a decision to join Mako Aquatics. While we believe that we offer an outstanding program, we also wish to be good citizens of USA Swimming and maintain our good relationships with the other teams.
