Practice Group Assignments/ Pre-requisites

Swimmers are assigned to practice groups according to their age for the upcoming swim season. Skill level, practice performance, maturity,and attitude are all taken into consideration when evaluating potential swimmers.

Pre-Team

Swimmers ages 9-12 that are more developmental not quite ready yet for their actual age group but are working up to it. These swimmers are legal in freestyle and backstroke but may need to work on becoming legal in breast and fly. Generally, these swimmers also need to learn to flipturn, backstroke turn and work on endurance and diving from the blocks. 

 

Purple –  L1

Swimmers ages 6-8 that can swim 25yd freestyle with rotary breathing and 25yd backstroke. Must be able to perform a dive.

 

Red- L2

9-10 year old swimmers that can swim a 50yd freestyle with rotary breathing and 50yd backstroke. They must be able to dive, have a basic knowledge of breastroke and butterfly and a basic knowledge of flip turns and backstroke turns. Must be able to perform a dive.

 

Blue – L3

11-12 year old swimmers that can swim a 50yd  freestyle with rotary breathing, 50yd backstroke, 50yd breastroke, 50yd butterfly. They must be able to do flip turns, backstroke turns and open turns and perform a dive.

 

Yellow- L4

13-14 year old swimmers that can swim a 100yd  freestyle with rotary breathing, 100yd backstroke, 100yd breastroke, 100yd butterfly.  They must be able to do flip turns, backstroke turns and open turns and dive.

 

Green- L5

15-18 year old swimmers that can swim a 100yd  freestyle with rotary breathing, 100yd backstroke, 100yd breastroke, 100yd butterfly. They must be able to do flip turns, backstroke turns and open turns and dive.
