During the winter season, we compete in the Penndel Swim League. Our winter season begins September 22, 2025 and runs through late January/February. Some swimmers may continue on through the beginning of April if they are participating in other championship meets. All dual meets are YMCA meets and take place on Saturdays.
Swimmers are required to attend all meets ( home and away). Meets will begin in Novenber. All Swimmers must commit and will be held to a 2 practice per week minimum for ages 6-10, 3 practice per week minimum for ages 11-12 and 4 per week for ages 13 & over and meet attendance in order to participate in team. Failure to meet the minimum practices per week and/or meet attendence may result in your swimmer being asked to leave the team. Parents are also expected to volunteer at meets 3 times during the season- the jobs are simple. This may be less depending upon the number of swim families in the season. Failure to fulfill your volunteer requirement will result in a $100 charge.
New Swimmers must meet the pre-requisites in order to participate in fall/winter team. New swimmers should plan to register and attend the swim evaluation (no cost). Swimmers that register for this evaluation will attend practice with other evaluation swimmers on Sept 16th, 17th and 18th. Ages 6-10 will attend from 5-5:45pm on theses days and swimmers ages 11 & older will attend from 6-7pm on those days. Swimmers must attend all 3 practices. Coaching staff will let you know if your swimmer is or is not ready to continue on with evaluation.
If your swimmer meets the prerequisites and attends the 3 practices listed above, then they will be invited to attend the first week of team ( week of Sept 23rd) for final evaluation. If they are slected to attend the week of Sept 22nd, they attend practice with current members of the team at the practice times/days listed below. Coaching staff will let you know prior to the end of the week if your swimmer is ready to continue on to swim team. More information regarding team will also be given at this time.
Returning WGY swimmers do not need to attend evaluation and may register in their current age group ( age as of Dec 1, 2025).
All swimmers- returning and new( once they pass evaluation) will be charged $125 registration fee at the time they register for swim team. Registration occurs at philaymca.org. This process will be explained to new families. This fee secures your swimmers place on the team. All swimmers must have a current YMCA full privilege membership and a credit card or account on file.
Fees listed below are in addition to the $125 registration fee mentioned above. Payment is taken in 4 monthly payments beginning in Sept ( $125 registration fee is paid at time of registration).
Practice schedule is subject to change based on number of swimmers in each practice group after registration and/or pool availability.

Swimmers would practice with WGY until high school practice begins ( usually mid November), then they would practice with high school and just compete in WGY meets. If a swimmer chooses this option, they do not practice with WGY after the high school season begins. The fee for this option is $410 and swimmers practice at the times for the 15 & over group listed above until beginnig HS practice.
