Lifeguard Training

We offer American Red Cross lifeguarding classes at Yost Pool. We teach from the American Red Cross Blended Learning curriculum, which allows students to do the majority of lecture work at home at their own speed. Internet access is required to participate in our Lifeguard Training classes. Recertification classes will have an optional online review. Participants must be 15 years of age by the end of class.  Participants must be able to jump into the deep end and swim 150 yards using a combination of Front Crawl or Breaststroke then tread water for 2 minutes without using their hands, followed by 50 more yards of swimming.  Participants must be able to swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the pool, return without using their hands to swim, and then climb out of the water. Attendance on all days and passing the pretest is mandatory. Classes are offered based on demand. Generally, our summer season starts around May and at the end of our summer season in September. Need your team certified or recertified? Inquire about custom classes today.

Classes require a minimum of 5 people to run.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds (minus up to $15 processing fees) are available up to 7 days in advance of the class. No refunds will be issued within 7 days of the class. Transfers are offered for up to a 50-dollar fee on a case-by-case basis.

UPCOMING RECERTIFICATION LIFEGUARD CLASSES (2025) $150

Looking to renew your certification? Yost Pool is proud to offer American Red Cross lifeguarding classes at Yost Pool. We teach from the American Red Cross Learning curriculum. Participants must be able to swim 150 yards using a combination of Front Crawl and/or Breaststroke tread water for 2 minutes without using their hands and then swim 50 more yards. Additionally, swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the pool, return without using their hands to swim, and then climb out of the water. A valid Red Cross certification is required to attend this class, if expired, it must be no more than 30 days. Best of all, all the learning is done in person day of with no required online. If you have any questions please contact Benjamin Weed. Please send in your certification so we can confim eligibility .
