Safety Classes:

PS1
Students learn the basic fundamentals with in-water teacher assistance; such as floating, blowing into the water through the mouth and nose as well as submerging their face and basic arm movements for the crawl stroke, 

PS2/YS1
Students continue to reinforce and fine tune basic fundamentals with assistance.  They learn to float on their own and to push off the wall into streamline as well as learn the basics of front crawl stroke.

PS3/YS2
Students learn to swim underwater as well and are introduced to elementary backstroke. They will learn to roll over independently and swim safely from the deep end of a pool and begin to learn the basic of treading.

PS4/YS3
At this level they will be able to push and glide independently for 4 to 5 body lengths as well perform basic crawl for 3 body lengths. They will start treading in the deep end and learn the beginning elements to diving from the side.

YS4
Students work through a safe diving progression from a kneeling dive to a compact and stride dive. They will learn to tread water for 45 seconds and be able to swim longer distances, completing a freestyle and backstroke swim from the deep end to the shallow end without stopping or touching the bottom.

 

Stroke Development:

 

SD 1
At this level, students continue to refine their freestyle and backstroke technique and are introduced to breaststroke and butterfly.  Students are introduced basic
 preparatory skills necessary for joining a swim team. By upper level SD they should be swiming confidently and able to do distances of 500 meters non-stop.

SD 2
At this level, students continue to refine their freestyle and backstroke technique and are introduced to breaststroke and butterfly.  Students are introduced basic
 preparatory skills necessary for joining a swim team. By upper level SD they should be swiming confidently and able to do distances of 500 meters non-stop.

SD 3
At this level, students continue to refine their freestyle and backstroke technique and are introduced to breaststroke and butterfly.  Students are introduced basic
 preparatory skills necessary for joining a swim team. By upper level SD they should be swiming confidently and able to do distances of 500 meters non-stop.

SD 4
At this level, students continue to refine their freestyle and backstroke technique and are introduced to breaststroke and butterfly.  Students are introduced basic
 preparatory skills necessary for joining a swim team. By upper level SD they should be swiming confidently and able to do distances of 500 meters non-stop.

 

Specialty Classes:

 

T1
Teen level one will offer basic fundamentals of water saftey such as floating, streamline off the wall, basics of
 crawlstroke, and treading.

T2
Teen level two will teach deep water swimming skills, swiming longer distances, and diving.

A1
 Adult level one will offer basic fundamentals of water saftey such as floating, streamline off the wall, basics of crawlstroke, and treading.

A2
 Adult level one 
will teach deep water swimming skills, swiming longer distances, and diving.

A3
Adult level 3 will be an introduction to stroke development. Students will refine their stroke techniques for crawl stroke, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, learn turns, and swim longer distances.

A4
Adult level 4 will continue to refine stroke techniques as well as introduce structured lap swim workouts.

Guard Prep

Ever wonder what it take to be a guard? This class will go over fundumentals to get you prepared to take a lifeguarding class here at yost or anywhere they are offered. We welcome teens 11 to 15 to particapate and learn what it take to be a guard. In this class you will work on treading and basic rescues.

Pre-Team

Our level past SD, you will start learning foundational skills that will transfer over to swim team as well as the basics to writing workouts leading to lifelong swimming.
