ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS

  • Student-Athlete is one word, and STUDENT is first for a reason

  • Athletes are expected to excel academically

THINGS YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE COACHES

  • The coaching staff coaches everybody the same by coaching them differently

  • You and your teammates will be challenged appropriately

  • The coaching staff will hold you and your teammates accountable

  • The coaching staff’s unwavering support will be there for you

DECISION MAKING PROCESS

  • All decisions and choices the coaching staff have made this year are for the benefit of the entire team. Participating on this team will challenge you mentally and physically, and along the way, you will discover strength and abilities you were unaware you had.

VIEW EXCELLENCE AS A PROCESS, NOT AN OUTCOME/RESULT

  • The overall team goal is not to be good, but to be great. Commit to be great and make positive contributions to help the team achieve the same.

LOCKER ROOMS

  • Please understand that the locker room is a privilege, and you are to be on your best behavior both in and out of the locker room. Habitual behavior concerns may result in loss of locker room privileges.

NUTRITION

  • Due to a rigorous practice and meet schedule, proper nutrition is necessary for your body to function at maximum capacity. As an athlete, you are highly recommended to stay hydrated throughout the day, have an appropriate snack before (30 mins – 1 hour) practice, and replenish your body with nutrition/hydration following practice (aim to be within 30 min).

TRAINING GROUPS

  • Swimming skill, speed, and background are just some of the criteria used to place each athlete into their respective training group. Times may arise when adjustments may be able to be made during the season, however, each athlete is in a slightly different place right now. The overall goal as a coaching staff is to provide a safe, challenging, and catered training regimen designed for the benefit of each athlete.

PRACTICE ATTIRE

  • Please bring a swimsuit, dryland clothes, and shoes to every practice. Swimsuits are to be worn during all warmup sessions to transition immediately from dynamic warmup to the pool effectively. Shoes, t-shirts, and shorts must be worn during all dryland sessions and school rules must be followed. Habitual violations of the practice attire expectations may result in disciplinary action and a parent-athlete meeting with your group coach.

TEAM ACTIVITIES

  • All athletes are expected to behave in a manner that will reflect positively on the entire team at all team activities.

SAFETY CONCERNS

  • The coaching staff aims to provide a safe environment for each athlete. Athletes are expected to follow all pool, facility, and school rules always.

  • Habitual safety violations will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action and a parent-athlete meeting with your group coach. Extreme cases will be handled directly by the Head Coach.

  • If there are safety concerns, please report directly to a coach. Situations will be handled thoroughly on a case-by-case basis.

RESPECT

  • The coaching staff will respect all the athletes, and in turn, all athletes are expected to treat each other, parents, officials, opponents, and staff members in a similar manner.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

  • All swimming attendance matters are handled by the group coach. If there are any questions regarding the attendance policy, contact your group coach.

  • Habitual tardiness (1-15 minutes after practice begins) will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action and a parent-athlete meeting with your group coach. Extreme cases will be handled directly by the Head Coach.
