The Shippensburg Aquatic Club (SAC) provides a competitive swim team for age group swimmers up to age 18. It is the goal of the team to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual to the best of their abilities.

SAC is a USA Swimming sanctioned club, training and competing year round. We provide flexible membership options for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

USA Swimming members will compete in USA Swimming invitationals throughout the year with the short course championships held in March and the long course championships held in July.

Additionally, the swim team competes in two local leagues. The Central PA Aquatic League is the winter league while the summer league is the Capital Area Swim League which runs from April through July.

Annual Membership

Annual Membership is geared towards experienced swimmers who plan to compete at USA Swimming meets. Swimmers must be able to complete each of the four strokes legally in order to be eligible for the annual membership. Contact Coach Jonathan at [email protected] if you are interested in an evealutation or need additional information. Annual swimmers will practice year round, beginning in September and ending in July.

Seasonal Membership

Seasonal members will compete in the local league meets and invitationals. Practice for the winter season will begin in October and run through the end of February with the summer season running from May through July.

Trial Membership Available!

We are offering a two week trial for seasonal members. Following the completion of the two week trial, you will have the option to continue with the team. The initial fee will then be applied to the full membership price.

Reduced Cost Memberships

In partnership with the ZMC Foundation, we are able to offer reduced cost membership for athletes within the Shippensburg Area School District who qualify for the free / reduced lunch program. Please select the "ZMC Foundation" payment option during checkout to register for the reduced membership rate. Please note there are a limited number of ZMC Foundation spots available so this option will close if all spots fill.

Swim Groups

Any athlete who can swim the length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted is eligible to join the team.  Prospective team members may contact us at [email protected] to schedule a skill assessment, or to request for more information.

Practices will be broken into groups based on age and ability level by the coaches.

Group 1 – Age 8 and Under Swimmers

Group 1 includes all 8 and under swimmers. 8 and under swimmers who can swim the length of the pool are eligible to compete at meets once they are comfortable. Group 1 will focus on stroke development

Group 2 White – Age 9 and Over Development Swimmers

Age 9 and Over swimmers who are able to complete two lengths of the pool, unassisted, of at least two strokes, will practice with Group 2 White. G2W will focus on development of the strokes with practices tailored to the ability levels within the group.

Group 2 Grey – Age 9 and Over Swimmers

Age 9 and Over swimmers will practice with the grey group once they are able to successfully complete 25 yards of each stroke. The Grey group will focus on continued technique improvement of each stroke while introducing endurance into the practices.

Group 2 Maroon – Ages 11 and Over Advanced Swimmers

This is the top level group for age group swimmers. Swimmers in this group must be able to compete all four competitive strokes. Maroon swimmers should demonstrate a commitment to improving themselves through practice and are dedicated to training and learning.

Parent Responsibilities

As the Parent/Guardian of a competitive swimmer, your main responsibility is to provide a caring, supporting environment. This support will encourage your child to feel good about his or her interest in competitive swimming. Show your support by insuring your swimmer’s attendance at practices and swim meets.

Parents/guardians are not participants on their child’s team but contribute to the success experienced by the swimmer and his or her team.  Parents/guardians serve as role models, and children frequently emulate their attitudes.  Strive to be a positive role model. Show good sportsmanship at all times toward coaches, officials and other teams.
