The Shippensburg Aquatic Club (SAC) provides a competitive swim team for age group swimmers up to age 18. It is the goal of the team to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual to the best of their abilities.

The swim team competes in two seasons annually, the summer season which runs from April through July and the winter season which is from October through February.

Trial Membership Available!

We are offering a two week trial for each membership group. Following the completion of the two week trial, you will have the option to continue with the team. The initial fee will then be applied to the full membership price.

Swim Groups

Any athlete who can swim the length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted is eligible to join the team.  Prospective team members may contact us at [email protected] to schedule a skill assessment, or to request for more information.

Practices will be broken into groups based on age and ability level.

Group 1 - Age 8 and Under Swimmers

Beginners of all ages that are not yet comfortable swimming multiple strokes or swimming 50 yards unassisted will swim with Group 1. Group 1 will also include all 8 and under swimmers. 8 and under swimmers who can swim the length of the pool are eligible to compete at meets once they are comfortable. Beginner swimmers over age 8 will need to progress to Group 2 in order to compete in meets.

Group 2 – Age 9 and Over Advanced Swimmers

Age 9 and Over swimmers who are able to complete two lengths of the pool, unassisted, of at least two strokes, will practice with Group 2. Group 2 will focus on development of the strokes with practices tailored to the ability levels within the group.

Group 2 Elite - Ages 11 and Over Swimmers

This is the top level group for age group swimmers. Swimmers in this group must be able to compete all four competitive strokes. Group 2 Elite swimmers should demonstrate a commitment to improving themsevles through practice and are dedicated to training and learning.

High School

Parent Responsibilities

As the Parent/Guardian of a competitive swimmer, your main responsibility is to provide a caring, supporting environment. This support will encourage your child to feel good about his or her interest in competitive swimming. Show your support by insuring your swimmer’s attendance at practices and swim meets.

Parents/guardians are not participants on their child’s team but contribute to the success experienced by the swimmer and his or her team.  Parents/guardians serve as role models, and children frequently emulate their attitudes.  Strive to be a positive role model. Show good sportsmanship at all times toward coaches, officials and other teams.
