What is Safe Sport:

Bettendorf Aquatics Club is committed to providing a healthy, safe  and positive environment that is free from any abuse for all its members.  The safety of every athlete is one of our core principles.  Pursuant to federal law, all adults authorized to interact with minor or amateur athletes who learn of facts that give reason to suspect that a child has suffered an incident of child abuse, including sexual abuse, must make a report of the suspected abuse to law enforcement and/or your state’s designated agency.

No form of abuse will be tolerated at Bettendorf Aquatics Club and will be reported to the proper authories. Working together with the local and state officials, USA Swimming and the National SafeSport Center, we are deteremined to provide a safe training environment free of any and all forms of abuse.  Abuse includes, but not limited to: bullying, harassment, hazing, physical abuse, emotional abuse and sexual misconduct of any nature. This page contains resources for day-to-day issues critical to keeping our athletes safe, reporting abuse incidents, policy changes and where families can be directed to learn more about these matters.

Across the spectrum of all youth and amatuer sports lies concerns where personal boundaries between peers and coach-athlete relationships can be crossed. Bettendorf Aquatics Club is working to be recognized by USA Swimming as a Safe Sport Compliant Program. In short, Bettendorf Aquatics Club is working to met and exceeded all protocols set forth by USA Swimming to assure vigilance and proactive corrective measures with respect to minor abuse.

The U.S. Center for SafeSport is an independent nonprofit organization committed to building a sport community where participants can work and learn together free of emotional, physical and sexual abuse and misconduct. Explore our site to learn more about our work and read reports detailing the support we provide to athletes through response and resolution protocols, policies and prevention education frameworks promoting safer sport environments across the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement.
