Winter Age Group Championships (December 8-10, 2023) BCS athletes battled an extremely competitive field at this year’s edition of the Winter Age Group Championships, once again in beautiful San Clemente. After two days of racing, the team found themselves firmly in 4th place in the team competition and went on to finish in 4th (combined/women/men) when all was said and done, just off the podium behind the juggernauts of NOVA, ROSE and AZOT. Congratulations, athletes! Last weekend we witnessed two BCS athletes become first-time Sectionals qualifiers (Kayla Sun - 100...

Brito is second to only Mellott in the 100 breast, is 2:10-low in the 200 breast, and has a sub-1:59 200 IM and a sub-23 50 free to boot. She projects as an elite breaststroker who...

The hot weather continued down in Irvine for Jr nationals, and Beach Cities was once again in fine form! Beach Cities had 3 Individual qualifiers competing in Irvine, Bella Brito, Delaney Herr and Jack O’Shaughnessy. This was their last meet before the summer break and the last meet of Long course season. I’m beyond proud of these three athletes, they have had an incredible season full of ups, downs and plenty of learning opportunities. I hope they get some well-deserved rest because the short course season is going to be...

Summer Age Group Championships (July 20-23, 2023) We are the champions, my friends. We did it. The athletes made it happen with their effort throughout the season and, then, with their grit and determination over a grueling four day prelims/finals competition. The parents laid the foundation by prepping and hosting a fabulous meet, not to mention supporting their young athletes throughout the season and at the meet. The coaches did what they do best and guided our young athletes to yet another level of excellence in swimming. It takes a...

Summer Pacific Committee Championships (July 14-16, 2023) This meet had a different feel this year, as there was no maximum time standard in any event (historically, this was an AG Champs max meet) and there were several events with no minimum time standard, for the first time ever. Nevertheless, our team of 88 athletes made beautiful music in the pool, much like the 88 keys on a piano, to claim a podium team finish in 3rd place overall (Women 2nd, Men 3rd). Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed...

June Age Group Invitational @ Irvine (June 16-19, 2023) Your BCS squad headed to Orange County for this year’s vintage of the June Age Group Invitational, featuring headliners such as the nearly 300-strong Irvine Novaquatics (meet host) and the Santa Clara Swim Club, with its rich swimming history. In the end, NOVA’s army of athletes proved to be too great a force to reckon with, but your BCS athletes charged hard to a 2nd place combined team finish, with both genders finishing in 2nd place, as well! The Women’s competition...
