TSC is in Montreal this week, 25 age group swimmers strong for the Canadian Age Group Championships, the final major club meet of the 2012-2013 swim season calendar.  Competition runs Wednesday through Sunday in the pool and caps off on Monday with the Open Water competition. TSC swimmer and 2012 Canadian Olympian Zsofi Balasz finished 19th overall in today's 10km race at the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona. The 2013 Canadian Summer Nationals are in the books and TSC swimmers showed very well over the 4 days in Pointe-Claire.  The big story for TSC coming out of Sr. Nationals was the first ever National Championship for Matthew Myers in the 200BK (2:00.36) and the final National Championship for retiring TSC swimmer Warren Barnes in the 50BR (28.25)!  Myers (pictured right), who trains with Byron Macdonald and Linda Kiefer with our friends at the University of Toronto, had two epic showdowns over the weekend with Matthew Swanston and while...

TSC swimmer Dana Sherrard is in Israel for the 19th Maccabiah Games, where swimming competition is ready to get underway tomorrow! The 15-year old Sherrard will be swimming primarily freestyle and butterfly events at the Games and we hope that her family will send us some pictures so we can illustrate Dana's performances at her first International competition. Competition at the 2013 Summer Senior National Championships in Pointe-Claire, Quebec gets underway tomorrow morning and runs through Saturday, and some of TSC's best are there are ready to compete. TSC's Paige Schultz has helped Canada to a second Bronze medal in relay action at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.  Paige was a part of the 4x200FR Canadian Relay along with Savannah King, Brittany MacLean, and Lindsay Delmar that finished in 8:02.73 and good enough for Bronze. Earlier in Finals action, Schultz finished 7th in the women's 200IM Final (2:17.44) and TSC's Zack Chetrat also had a 7th place finish in the men's 200FL Final (1:58.92). Toronto Swim Club would like congratulate Malcolm Fairweather who announced his retirement from swimming following the Ontario Age Group Championships in Brantford, which ran July 4-7th. Malcolm is a well-decorated Para swimmer with TSC and has participated internationally on many an occassion. This week Malcolm was recognized as the Canada Cup Para Swimmer of the meet based on his double medal performance in Montreal during the June 27-30th competition. On day 1 at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia TSC swimmer Paige Schultz and three teammates won Canada's first medal in the pool.  Schultz was joined by Brittany MacLean, Caroline Lapierre Lemire, and Sandrine Mainville on Canada's 4x100FR relay team that went 3:40.71, which was good enough to win a bronze medeal!
