Q:  At what age can my child start swimming with the Bluephins?

A:  Swimmers can join as early as age 6 in our Miniphins or Pre-Competitive programs.

Q:  Does my child need to know how to swim to join?

A:  Swimmers should already have basic swimming skills. Miniphins requires completion of Swim Level 6. Our programs are not swimming lessons.

Q:  Do I need to book an assessment?

A:  New swimmers for the Bluephins programs need to complete an assessment. Email Coach Tom at [email protected] to schedule.

Q:  How do I register?

A:  Once your swimmer has been assessed and placed in a group, visit our Registration page to sign up.

Q:  What if I’m not sure which program to choose?

A:  Attend a New Swimmer Assessment or contact us at [email protected] for guidance.

Q:  What’s the difference between Pre-Competitive and Competitive?

A:  Pre-Competitive focuses on fun and fundamentals; Competitive programs involve structured training, meets, and more

commitment.

Q:  Can swimmers switch programs during the year?

A:  Yes, swimmers are assessed regularly and may be moved to a different group if ready.

Q:  How do I stay up to date?

A:  Check the Weekly Schedule & Updates section on our homepage, follow us on social media, and watch for email updates from the club.

Q:  What equipment does my child need?

A:  All swimmers need a bathing suit and goggles. Higher-level groups require additional items like fins or pull buoys. Swim caps and t-shirts are provided by the club.

Q:  How many times a week is training?

A:  It varies by program. Miniphins train 2x/week; Senior swimmers train up to 9x/week.

Q:  Do all swimmers compete in meets?

A:  Most Competitive swimmers participate in meets. Some Pre-Competitive swimmers may have fun or in-house events. Jr. Masters may opt-in for meets.

Q:  Are meetings mandatory?

A:  Meet participation is expected for Competitive groups. Let your coach know if your swimmer can't attend.
